Salmon are great fun on lures but If you want to cast metal lures 150 metres you'll need different gear. Get a 11 to 12 foot graphite rod with a long butt end; 20lb braid line, a special long cast spinning reel; and develop a casting technique where you rip down the butt end of the rod with your left arm super fast. Also watch some long casting instruction videos and get some practice and you'll find that you're consistently casting lures out to those salmon schools 150 metres off the beach.

@@guseva1 Without any practice you'll be casting about 100 metres but to get that extra 50 metres will take practice and study and more practice as you refine your casting technique. A word of warning, hollow graphite surf rods are beautifully light fishing tools but they are expensive and they don't like cold weather. I've snapped a couple of custom built graphite surf rods whille casting on cold winter mornings. They are just that little bit more brittle in really cold weather, so go easy.
