On the commuter planes I travel on, the bags are all 21 to 22 inches wide! They count as a carry on because they are too big for a personal item!

I find mailing things works well. My friend brough all her old clothes to wear in Hong Kong, and threw all of them out as we went on.

I was most recently in the amazon of Peru and was struck by how poor the locals were and i thought to myself that on my next trip (India) i am going to take gently worn clothes to donate when i get there. I didn't realize it would also make room in my suitcase for stuff. In Morocco i had to buy a little suitcase for all my stuff. The airline let me check it in for free.

I check a 22 inch bag. Inside i pack everything into backpack rather than the packing cubes. I also have a soft sided carry on that is small enough to ve a personal item. If i buy things i now can remove the backpack and have three bags to fill. Since im checking the 22 inch i know have the full backpack as a carryon and the smaller soft bag as a personal item. This works well. I have also mailed things home! And yes, i have donated items also.

I am planning to do this next spring. I’m challenging myself to only a personal item backpack for a 5 day trip. I follow many travel KZbin channels but yours is the first I’ve seen with this hack. I think it’s a wonderful idea.

The blue one is a brand called Industry and the white one with stripes is Tahari. I would have gotten them at Nordstrom Rack or TJ Maxx. They are both super lightweight and traveled well.

What do you mean by fancy hose? Looks to me you are just wearing regular nude hose.

They were Natori Dotted Net Tights. Unfortunately, they didn’t make the trip home. I learned the hard way - put your hose and tights in plastic zip locks if you are going to put them in anything with a zipper! I think any kind of black accented stockings dress things up. Wish I had pictures of me wearing them. :(

Before you travel, also know what to do if you lose your phone! I thought I knew but I didn't and I couldn't believe everything I learned in the process.
