Not too excited about the pool... but it is important they learn how to get out in case they fall into it. Who´s the noisiest one, the female?
@landrtravels64448 ай бұрын
The boy, Raven, was making the noise at the end. Raven is a talker and has a lot to say. Clover, the female, is the barker. She alerts to everything. We wanted to make sure they know how to get out if they fall in, but did not want to traumatize them in the process. A dog trainer told me to do it this way and it is working. They are not thrilled about going in the pool, but they are ok.

Collies are the best. Whether Rough, Border, Sheltie, or lots of the mixes. I've had two Border mixes and a pure Border, they all enriched my life tremendously. Thank you for sharing Clover's "appreciation".

We have had collies and a sheltie and have adored them all. I love the herding dogs. Clover continues to stop Raven from eating. He is taller than her but they weigh almost the same. I have to intervene regularly. I have not had to do this before, so it is a new experience.

I understand your concern, but that is the best solution for when I am not home until they are about 10 months old. When rough housing, the dogs can get hurt. They love their safe space in the crates. They are now 16 months old and I keep the crates in my office. I do not leave them in the crates anymore when I am not home because it is not necessary. Yet, they regularly stay in the crates with the door open of their own accord. The crates are a safe place for them. Since I intend to show them in agility, I can not do it unless they have a safe place to be while at a show. They love their crates and are never confined in them for very long.

My collies' birthday is March 9. Is there any chance they are related? About a month ago I was at a dog park and saw a collie and it turned out to be my collies' sibling. Small world. I got my collies from Northwest Collies.

You should try this when the dogs are in a room with the door shut. Because they watch you were your going. But it is a good game for the dogs.
@landrtravels6444 Жыл бұрын
Since we are beginners, I am making it easier for them. I will make it more difficult as we move forward. I think the male is watching my every move, so it is hard to say whether his nose finds it or he knows because of watching me. In the beginning, I need to make it easy to keep their interest but we will make it harder as we move along. I think the male is going to excel at this.

beautiful collies. ❤ We are thinking about getting one too. How often do you have to bathe them if i may ask?
@landrtravels6444 Жыл бұрын
This is Regis, Linda traveling now so I'll take a shot at an answer. Depend on how dirty they get. these two love to run around in the yard, which in Washington state is wet most of the winter months. Hence they get muddy often. we have found the best way is the let the mud/wet dirt dry then just brush out. of course a bath once a month is needed to ensure a good cleaning. Brushing is done once a week to "thin" out the coat. I'll have Linda add or tell me am wrong!
@susisonnenschein5069 Жыл бұрын
@@landrtravels6444 thank you for your answer. 💐That was really helpful information. have a nice day
@davidhughes4448 Жыл бұрын
No real need to bathe a collie. Just keep him/her well brushed and that will do it. We have had four rough collies over a 40-year span. None have ever been bathed - just brush them several times a week.
@landrtravels6444 Жыл бұрын
This is Linda from Landrtravels. We just got back from our trip and the collies got filthy regularly because it was wet and muddy often. Once they dried, they dropped all their dirt and looked fine. I gave them a good brushing when I got home and they look beautiful. I bathe them occasionally, because then they really look good.
