the new buzzword is AGI so .. marketing. do we even know what consciousness is exactly? great topic for a vid. the singularity is going to realize that the universe has a spiritual component it cannot access without a body. so it will make one. cause and effect logic. no observable effect can be more than its cause in quantity or quality. The singulairty will be like a god to us and will be able to do things that look like bonafide miracles or magic.

Yes interesting topic to explore further, we touched on it a bit in this chat but definitely needs to be worked out deeper.

I have about 800 songs in five playlists for listening to in the gym. As I remember old songs from way back, I add them. This is a recent example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnKpdJZ7ZbuIi9E The problem is that I can find nothing on Spotify that will prevent duplicates among the playlists and even in one playlist. Does anyone know of such a setting? I created a relational database into which I'm entering all songs. This will quickly show up any duplicates, but entering 800 songs is a lot of work.

It's becoming clear that with all the brain and consciousness theories out there, the proof will be in the pudding. By this I mean, can any particular theory be used to create a human adult level conscious machine. My bet is on the late Gerald Edelman's Extended Theory of Neuronal Group Selection. The lead group in robotics based on this theory is the Neurorobotics Lab at UC at Irvine. Dr. Edelman distinguished between primary consciousness, which came first in evolution, and that humans share with other conscious animals, and higher order consciousness, which came to only humans with the acquisition of language. A machine with only primary consciousness will probably have to come first. What I find special about the TNGS is the Darwin series of automata created at the Neurosciences Institute by Dr. Edelman and his colleagues in the 1990's and 2000's. These machines perform in the real world, not in a restricted simulated world, and display convincing physical behavior indicative of higher psychological functions necessary for consciousness, such as perceptual categorization, memory, and learning. They are based on realistic models of the parts of the biological brain that the theory claims subserve these functions. The extended TNGS allows for the emergence of consciousness based only on further evolutionary development of the brain areas responsible for these functions, in a parsimonious way. No other research I've encountered is anywhere near as convincing. I post because on almost every video and article about the brain and consciousness that I encounter, the attitude seems to be that we still know next to nothing about how the brain and consciousness work; that there's lots of data but no unifying theory. I believe the extended TNGS is that theory. My motivation is to keep that theory in front of the public. And obviously, I consider it the route to a truly conscious machine, primary and higher-order. My advice to people who want to create a conscious machine is to seriously ground themselves in the extended TNGS and the Darwin automata first, and proceed from there, by applying to Jeff Krichmar's lab at UC Irvine, possibly. Dr. Edelman's roadmap to a conscious machine is at arxiv.org/abs/2105.10461

nice video, it would help if you did a demonstration on how to set up filter queries on both readwise and for your emails, I haven't found anyone to actually do a demonstration. Also, it would help if you zoomed in on parts. The letters are like size 2 font and makes my eyes hurt trying to focus on it. just some constructive criticism bc i think you have what it takes

Thanks for this veryinformative, very instructive video, Nils. This is really so helpful. Besides helping us assimilate knowledge with ease, this workflow will allows us to multiply the amount of learning we can do, as the time normally used to transcribe notes can actually be used to learn from more podcasts. Thanks again, Nils. Best wishes.

Thank you for this awesome video with the time stamps. I switched from Podcastaddict to SNIPD some time ago. Never regretted it. I also see a huge potential for English learning (I created the group "idioms" and "language". It's huge when it comes to collecting useful phrases and words and safe them up to learn later. I already look forward to the day SNIPD allows you to get transcripts of other languages (hopefully Italian). Newest feature "Episode noted" SNIPD creates short notes based on the snippets you collected. It's also pretty good to remember stuff better. Now I'm gonna check out your other videos. 🎧Happy listening! 🎧 Cheers, Daniel

Thanks! And yes I didn't even think of that yet, but a translation feature shouldn't be even that hard to integrate I assume, as the transcripts are already in the app right now. Seems there's a lot of potential here, I'm curious if there is any demand from mainstream users for this and if we see bigger podcast apps like Spotify and Apple Podcasts deploying similar features in the future.

Great video, came across this when I was searching answers to how to cope with the new Spotify update. I was heavy user of that 'drag from right column to the left column' too, but this update renders that action impossible as you cannot see 'Your Library' page in the main browsing area anymore, only in the left sidebar. Organizing my Spotify playlists now is as delighting as eating glass, how are you coping with these new updates?
@nilspaar
@nilspaar Жыл бұрын
Saw that too today. My first experience with the new UX isn't great, although the main setup I use still seems to be intact. My process mainly involves dragging tracks from to the different playlists in the left column, and I found that when you select "compact mode" in preferences the old setup still works.

KZbin 'errored' my comment thank you much, comment go delete (spent so long thinking about). go kaput (how rude, what a bastard xd). just going to say spotify isn't best in terms of music, tidal and other music softwares similar are king (come with Hifi), howeverrr spotify does have one thing going and thats its user experience (king of experience). This is 1 thing that is currently weighing down spotify imo, also like where feature where could sort like 3 different 'sorts' for a list and name each. ( I like have them together by artist but then having best artists at top, to worst at lowest of list ). If they implement Hifi it will be number 1 for me. currently place at number 2. after Tidal. It will be number 1 by far (if implemented), also if they make sort-feature suggested (multi-sort), think would be cool (just me probably). like to keep super organized or try to. Also I haven't seen any updates in years. I know taking down lot of tracks for content in them deemed outside of policy. but apart from that same layout for ages, Im not complaining they don't need to change much. but just yeah haven't changed all that much (from what I have seen over years). I think they should have multi-feature thing where can drag and drop and decide on features (would be really nice edition). to customize experience more. cause like say haven't changed layout/much years. apart from odd things like maybe few extra recommendations stuff. terms of overall experience its definitely in number 1 I just wish update soon, cause havent seen new features for ages. I think good criticism. would make user experience better/comfortable/with more customizability/control, and fun. also well done on playlist (holy crap), god tierrr. maybe not opening statement lol, but everything apart from top tier. also what was thing, like sort by genre/sort by mood, sort by theme? how many main ways do people look for music. I remember saying ages ago but not shown here.

Thank you advice But have one questions During micro dosing, should take journal even off day? Or take journal only the day I take?
@nilspaar
@nilspaar Жыл бұрын
There's not really a fixed rule for this, however I would recommend to do so. Journaling on the off days can really help you to reflect on your default state compared to your microdose days. I try to journal at least 5 to 20 minutes each day in order to reflect, but remember that there is no fixed program, do what works best for you. For some people journaling comes naturally, but for me it's always quite a mental victory when I've finished my daily journal.
