In the 90s I bought a Toshiba kt-4058 which was almost identical to this one. The only difference I see is the design of the lid. It had excellent sound, especially with the original headphones.

I thought the DD series was supposed to defeat wow and flutter, but I thought the one in this video had more wow and flutter than the Toshiba. However, from the little I saw I thought the Toshiba sounded less stable when handled. I thought the Sony had clearer highs. I prefer the retro look of the Toshiba. If I had to chose between the two I'd go with the Toshiba.

Back when these were new, they cost quite a bit and it was an incredible player. These days they’re highly desired since only a couple companies made similar TV/cassette/radio players.
