Used one of these. Never worth imo, the most critical (lead filling & pushing) mechanisms made of very, very low quality plastic, and after falling down a feet or so, it is 100% guaranteed to be broken, to the degree of total failure and nothing could be done to repair it. Nothing left of such "german" engineering these days, as the brand Rotring totally using its previously made fame. For real value and longevity, look nowhere else then Pentels, especially smash and PG600s.

the plastic feeding system should only be in the 600. the 800 should have a full metal feeling system. right?
@glutenfreevidsКүн бұрын
@@pizzaeater997 nope. Its plastic mixed with brass, but the plastic materials were so low quality that, they were totalled after falling a ft or so. I d never suggest anyone Rotring, anymore really. The most durable pencils for me were Pentel Smash and Graph 600s

800 isn’t worth it. It’s broken the lead advancing mechanism twice (double feeding etc), and although the second one was a replacement under warranty im never paying more for that model again. As an engineering student, a 100% failure rate on a mechanical product signals there’s something wrong with the design to me. Buy a 600 and a tip protector for it and you’re set. I’ve had mine for 5 years and never had an issue. The patina on my black model is beautiful and some brass is showing through.

The average person might not. But an architect, engineer, writer, artist would find it worth their time to invest in a high quality pencil whether it's for productivity or just their own enjoyment. They spend the majority of their job using the writing tool anyways.

People that use a pencil for the majority of their day/job would value it far more than the average person. It's like how carpenter or construction worker could use a cheap set of tools, but might opt for expensive ones because they work slightly better or feel nicer to use. On the other hand, the average person wouldn't mind a $15 power drill if they only use it once or twice a month.

The lead weight setting you are referring to is the hardness indicator, which doesn’t change the properties of the lead you are writing with, it is an indicator for when you switch out your lead to different hardness (B, HB, H, etc). It is for reminding you what lead you already put in. Great video though!

it is pronounced "Led." ✌️ also this pencil is part metal.. you can see plastic and rubber parts in various shots in your video 👍👍 i broke my first on day one, at work in a cabinet shop. good pencils though!
