I really hope she is given the chance to find her footing and imprint on the brand. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem the case at these larger fashion houses lately.

I worked for men’s Calvin Klein Collection in the 90s. We had a handful of department store doors and a lot of Loehmann’s (miss them). Collection at the time was passed over for the then emerging Italian brands. I like the new interpretations and the colors and shapes look on point for Calvin.

The floor chaos is distracting, the collection felt short. Veronica has a lot of time to nail this collection. It is a mosh pit of archival rehashing. It could have been Lemaire or Carven like, this is still 'under construction'. Please bring back Francisco Costa! This is giving me Peter Do/Helmut Lang flop vibes.

Thank you showing this show. I was so happy to see it back on the Runway. I loved Calvin Klein when he was in charged. I hope she can turn the brand around.

Gosh it is all ONLY about money and expectation of immediate and ever rising profit. They do not even give designers chance to fit within the house and spread the wings.

Strongly believe Grazia should go to Gucci. Like you said Gucci is more of an accessories brand. She’s good at accessories.

Sabato didn’t win me over with his vision of Gucci but I appreciated what he tried to do with the tailoring. I am partial to the Michele years but agree with you that Sabato wasn’t set up for success at an accessories-driven house. It feels so a bit haphazard what the conglomerates are doing with the quick decisions on creative directors. I think the bigger problem is that Kering and LVMH are struggling with identity, strategy and vision. It would probably benefit the legacy design houses to take a slower/measured approach to what they want to do for the future. Right now, it feels like they’re throwing spaghetti at the wall with the designer musical chairs and as a consumer, that really disrupts brand loyalty and morale. Doesn’t make me want to buy into anything without some semblance of stability!

Gucci's problem is the greedflation. Michele drove it into the ground with overpriced casual wear which did not look worth the price.

I think that’s what the Gucci customers don’t enjoy. Alessandro’s designs were all but the things listed. Extravagant and eccentric. That was their clientele and it simply didn’t work because the minimalist clientele was already owned by other brands, the transition to another vision was very direct and simply not all their pieces were able to wow crowds enough to start shopping in Gucci.

Whoever comes next should have more bargaining power in negotiations with Gucci when it comes to fashion and creativity. Business people at Gucci are just destroying the brand.

I think his Gucci could've worked, but I think there were a lot of false starts in the marketing and pushing the product. The illusion wasn't there, I think people were always awkwardly gawking at it thinking "Will this work??" People also just pay way more attention to this stuff than they used to in fashion, there's so much less mystique generally.

Mostly under develop dresses and jacket. You can tell by way the model walk. The draped of the collection seen to be lacking, but there are some bright spots. Who is buying your handbag if your ready to wear is so bad ? It not Sabato fault.

I’m surprised Pharrell’s LV is doing so well. I expect LV boots to be around $1,400, but their latest “paw print” booties were $2,500!!!! ……RIDICULOUSLY overpriced!! (but they’re sold out!). Who are these idiots paying these prices?!? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Gucci in recent years solidified itself as crazy rich eccentric bag lady chic for quite some time. So, his line was extreme not a subtle fade out. That said, I loved his clothing and taking interest. Loved the cut fit of the blazers and coats. He was probably just getting started in finding a new vibe for the brand. The bags could have been a bit more wow though. They should keep his jackets and coat tailoring but they can spice things ip a bit. That said, with financial issues people are having and many people wanting to be able to wear items more than once instead of wasting (if you go by influencer sentiments, right now) pieces by only buying trendy short wear. Si, I think his pieces would have caught on. Not to mention didnt other luxury brands dip a bit last year as well? Is it only gucci? If not it probably wouldnt have mattered who was incharge. The quiet luxury cut and fit could have remained while sprucing things up with a bit of their oddball color palette.

There is something about this creative director musical chairs era that has left me feeling as though the houses are becoming commoditized. It’s making brands like the Row, Hermes and others that don’t participate in the shuffle (as visibly) feel more authentic, higher value and true to their brand ethos.

Gucci new to beg Tom Ford to returned stabilize the brand through the down turn in luxury market, instead of thinking a young fresh designer can handle a job like this.
