Thank you for the info. Im looking at trying vr for iracing. Ive acquired a rift S for pretty cheap. My pc specs are a Ryzen 5 5500 and an RX 6600 gpu and 32 gb of RAM. Would this setup run vr fairly smooth for iracing?

This game is pathet. Horrible ui with cluttered sub menus, go back and check out dirt rally. The advanced graphic settings are super useless for in terms of information about what is a setting doing. Trees - sets the quality of the trees. Really? And for all other settings no proper information. Post process volume?b if you are not working with unreal you have no clue what is. You can look at up in the documentation of Unreal Engine. And we are VR.... OMG, next Gen graphics in 2024; looks worse than RBR 🎉👋👋 well done EA, WRC, Codemasters

Anisotropic 16x You realistically need a 3080ti and above with a decent i9 9900k and above before you can hit medium high and epics and before it starts to look ok. I sim race at 72hz and this frees up a truck ton of graphical goodies to use.

Everything on Low is probably the reason, why it isn’t a available for PSVR2

My setup is pretty close... 5600x and a 3070 TI. To get the trees to stop shimmering, turning AA all the way down to 0 (in fact disabled it in the .ini file) and then turning DLSS up to quality smoothed things out. I also added some lighting tweaks to the .ini and it made the colors less blown out (the road looked straight white on the bright, white gravel roads). It makes it playable, but definitely still not great. Switching back to Dirt Rally 2.0 was like night and day. I know it's Beta though, so I too am hopeful they can improve the optimization!

Well so far with my WRC game and watching setup videos to change/get the best performance, it seems to work adequate for me. I did one time trial with my Quest 3 and graphics detail is not too bad, and no jerkiness in the game. I need to install a FPS monitor to see how these type of games do on my PC system. Doing the actual time trial and being inside the car in the drivers seat in VR looks adequate so far. One thing I did notice so far is there is no car engine sound while doing the replays. All I hear the tires and I think the wind of the car. There might be a few other little things, but those are the main items I heard. Game hasn't crashed for me so far. Just now getting into trying different things in the game. Many people are very fussy about this game, I am not a Rally game fanatic and I don't care how real it is or is not. It is just entertainment for me and to drive/see the scenic routes that are in the game. Thanks for the video and take care.

u forgot tan the graphics details and sharpness is better on gaming monitors, VR graphics is not the best...

For a beta it’s okish. I’m much more hopeful that vr is finally here and can only hope it gets better in time.

I love how detailed the FFB in rf2 is! I didn't even know my wheel could do the things it does in this game/sim

Thanks. The part about not starting everything up before going into rFactor 2 has got me a few times. I forget to turn my wheel on and find that it helpfully has mapped the steering to an axis on my flight sim throttle quadrant :D

I borrowed a co-worker's Oculus Rift, and I really like VR, but for games that benefit from full head movement (I definitely am better in Dirt Rally 2.0 with VR). So after I have it back (after about 4 months) Unfortunately, I hated the sensors, because it was difficult to make room where they would read correctly. I decided to go triple 24" (I had one and my.son was getting rid of his 2 extras). Then I found a used Acer Windows mixed reality for $50 CND. One of the best priced investments of my system. Downfalls to VR is you start feeling the unit on tour head after a few hours, which can cause a pressure headache, and, this only happened once, got a headrush in Kart Kraft when I spun around and was gliding backwards, I actually felt like I was rolling backwards and had to remove the VR for a bit. Unfortunately, as great as it is, it is a pain to initially get going with VR, where my triples are ready and waiting right then and there. So I use the monitors 95% of the time. But I still like having the option, especially for the price I paid for it!

Rfactor 2 devs must stupidest ones of the whole industry !! They make an easy game to install but you got a useless empty app. I thought i had to buy all the content and they re pretty expensive, thanks to you, you saved my experience…but there so many other things that confuse me, online session for instance, and particularly vr settings, unlike what you said, when i change the display resolution, it changes the actual resolution within the headset !!! Rfactor 2 is the only vr game that does that ! If i put the res at 4k, i got a big menu screen standing in front of me like a building, and if i lower the res the menu become smaller but everything else is blurry, even in game session ! Is it better to launch the game with openxr from steam, or with vrtoolkit from rfactor setting app, in this cass do i need to install vrtoolkit or does it come with the app ? On quest3 does not look as good as other games…even at high res.

Hello, Im looking to get into sim racing my pc specs are intel i5 12600KF, RTX 4060 @ 8gb VRAM, 16gb ram @ 3200mhz. I have no idea if this will be a decent experience in VR or if I'd be better off just going with a screen set up.

Love this car, great fun to drive and race. It's only downside is when you crash and get 16 minute pitstops . I also race in VR, hope to see you on track once i get my iRating back up 😂

I definitely agree. It should default to all cars all tracks that should be default. As far as the loading time goes I got a very strong computer. And yes it does take a while to load but the trade-off I believe is a superior handling but just my opinion.

Thanks for this guide. I had been thinking of trying Rfactor2 for a long time but had been put off on hearing it wasn’t easy to set up. I bought it on Steam as it was less than £6 and your guide was a great help. I just tried a BTCC AI race at Donington and it was very enjoyable. Thanks again.

I’ve got 4000 hours invested in this title and frankly yes it needs a little tweaking, but if you’ve got it dialled in right I have yet to have any other game give me the same car feel. I have most all other titles for PC but this is my go to because of the driving feel more than anything else

On rFactor2 I have a Steam VR Monitor thing visible. I currently have about 3.1ms frame time on a 3090 + Ryzen 5900. Awesome. But in online races I seem to get occasional dropped frames. Sometimes a lot. Still driveable, but distracting. If I figure it out I'll update...

I'm currently finding all your videos very useful and well timed since I've decided to spend some time playing with race sims and rFactor2 seems like it is the one for me, right now!

Is there any way, in game, to map "return to pits" to a wheel button? I race in VR as well and my keyboard isn't very accessible. I've got most other things figured out but I can't find anywhere that I can (essentially) map the "escape" key to a wheel button without using a third piece of software

FYI I redownloaded it this week and it installed all the tracks and cars just from installing the base game.

I have to go in and re do my wheel settings every time I load into a race. Just click the profile but still what the fuck
