Also in Varna 2004 were still many tu-154 and il-86 around. I was so disappointed that our plane from BH airlines was an A320 and not the tu 154. In the bus on the apron followed by an il-86. Never forget that.

They were indeed magical times for us Aviation enthusiasts, l was in Bourgas was September and it's all B737-NGs and A320 series aircraft, not quite the same nowadays, where did you fly with BH Air from?

I have landed at Varna airport in 1974 when I was 6 year old boy. We lived in Kardam 🏨 hotel having made a bus trip to Suncani breg. Great memory and first two flights in TU 134 by ČSA company!

@@markotango54 Oh yes, very pleasant memories. I do remember later on in the flight moving as my Grandad got a bit tired of the noise xD.. Yes, the 1-11 holds a special place in my heart, First plane I ever flew on, would have been about 7 years old back then.

@@Vanadeo My first ever flight was on a 111 too, July 1970 Manchester to Ibiza, Dan Air and the next year to Rhodos on a Laker 111 so a 111 is also very close to my heart too, for the flight in the video l got up at silly O'clock on the Saturday morning, drove from Manchester up to Edinburgh to fly down Bournemouth and the next evening flew back up to Edinburgh to drive back down to Manchester all in weekend and back to work on the Monday morning

What a landing!! Set her down ever so gently, with minimal bleed-off/“floating.” RAF, no doubt - or at the very least, real old-school fliers (unlike so many of today’s computer-watchers).

I did go on one of these but don’t remember the experience as I was only about 4. I have a picture of me being carried down the steps of Dan Air BAC1-11 by my grandad 🙂

That plain seemsa a DC 8 but im confussed its too small to be a dc 8.

I've now realised that you mean the Il-86 itself. And no, Il-86 is much larger than DC-8 and transported twice as many passengers (Il-86 had 350 seats)

Do you, by any chance, have the exact date of this flight? After retiring as a senior Captain from our country’s flag company, my Dad made some flights for Air Atlanta. So I was just wondering if he was flying this L1011! Thank you!

@@markotango54 - Hello! Thanks for your quick reply. The only thing I remember is that he was based at Manchester for some time, but I am not sure exactly what was the name of the company although the aircrafts had the Air Atlanta painting.

Put it down, everything out, decent braking - make A2. V impressive, but maybe empty. Unlike the 🔔🔚 guy who went deep on 14, did nowt and went off the end.

Me too ! Went up over the wash, over Duxford, and back down into Luton, not the best final flight, as some went out of Bournemouth performing a touch and go at jersey. We're you in the photo at the end ?

Used to see these balkan tu154s at leeds/bradford. They would go to full power whilst holding on the breaks for 30secs or so then away, amazing aircraft!
