I stopped at that coffee shop during my GAP trip (24:24). The barista is quite the accomplished artist and has a whole gallery of her artwork in the back room.

Thank you! You are very kind. I am very glad folks are enjoying it. You may find my cross country ride videos (especially the one with the voiceover) interesting as well. It highlights a ride I made in 2020, during Covid. I left my home in San Francisco, and rode my bike 3,800 miles to Yorktown, Virginia.

Congrats on the ride, great video. Your film is insightful as I still need to continue my 101 adventure, southbound from Crescent City to San Fran. next year. To add onto my oregon 101 adventure. Driving south of Crescent City a few years ago, I recall steep hills, w minimal shoulder, but that’s the 101.
@ofery.7575 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words. You are correct as to the limited shoulders… however, with proper lights, high visibility vest, and a mirror, one can minimize/manage the risk 😅

@@ofery.757 I've done the C&O Towpath several times, in both directions, great ride! Haven't done the Allegheny yet. In DC, there's a swanky bike friendly Hotel at the end of the C&O at the Key Bridge that I stayed at. Rolled my dirty loaded bike right up to the front desk and got a room, and they seemed to think it very natural for someone covered in dried mud with a touring bike to show up.
@ofery.7575 ай бұрын
Small world! As to DC hotel, thank you for the great tip. Luckily I don’t need one - our daughter lives in DC. Will be staying at her swanky place 🤓.

Nice video and route. Could have left out the political stuff; really diminishes an otherwise interesting story.
@ofery.7575 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. I had no intention of making the video political at all. I was simply trying to objectively show what was along the route.
@Joe-g3m6g5 ай бұрын
Well done video and music. I bike packed the Pacific Coast from Canada to Mexico in 2017. It’s a shame you tarnished your video with political views.
@ofery.7575 ай бұрын
Sorry you felt that the video was tarnished. My intent was not to present one political leaning or another, simply to show, as objectively as I could, what one would see along the way.
@Joe-g3m6g5 ай бұрын
Sorry, I didn’t see it as you intended it to be seen. I saw similar things the first 3 days of RAGBRAI. I also took pictures of such subject matter but chose not to post them on social media. Thus avoiding negative feelings and conversation. Just my point of view. Nothing more. It is a wonderful way to travel. To get a one on one personal contact with the environment you’re biking through. Happy Trails

great ride! the music at 14:00 sounds familiar but I forget. Do you remember what it is? thanks. the logging truck drivers in Humboldt used to be terrorists
@ofery.7575 ай бұрын
The music at 14:00 should sound familiar as it is "the gael" from the famous movie "the last mohicans". While scary at times, I am not so sure as to the claims made about the logging truck drivers. I suspect that they are hard working individuals with no affiliation to an OFAC restricted entity :-)
@LorentJalabert5 ай бұрын
@@ofery.757 thanks. In the 70s and 80s in Humboldt there was a life and death feud between logging companies and environmentalists. the truck drivers categorized bikers as environmentalists and terrorized them every chance they got, by speeding up to and close passing bikes riding through their territory . Extremely intimidating experience. They have been ordered to stop that by corp mgmt since then

@ofery.7575 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. The bike is actually a Poseidon X. As to upgrades - very little... I exchanged the saddle to another one I had (an old but comfortable Specialized saddle) and attached the front fork cages that I made out of leg braces. To see more about how I made those - go to 46:52 in the video.

We're from I-o-way, I-o-way, State of all the land, Joy on ev'ry hand. We're from I-o-way, I-o-way, That's where the tall corn grows. 2. As to team MORKA: both John & Ofer are from San Francisco, and Chris is from Seattle.

What day was it when RAGBRAI riders stopped at our friends house near Lorimor, tried to break into their house, went through a car parked in the driveway, urinated on their property and then left their trash all over the yard after giving the video camera the finger? Let me think.

@ofery.603 The video was sent to the Madison County Sheriff. It seems bikers look very similar, so identifying this group of 2-wheeled heathens is difficult.
@edwardbenton44286 ай бұрын
There are miscreants in every group of course. They may have been using Ragbrai as a cover for sinister intentions. It seems a bit odd that people would come to a Iowa bicycle event for criminal activities. But who knows I could be totally wrong. ATB
