I have had my 92 F service pistol for quite some time, bought used with FFL. I have a new 92FS as well. I have several magazines, some 10/some 15. The 10's are new. A haven't gone shooting for quite some time. While cleaning them I had the slide not lock, and when returning the hammer released. It seems as though if I were to shoot it the pistol would not stop firing until it was empty. The last time I shot it all was good and I had no trouble. I did the research and made sure the magazines were compatible, unless there is a difference between California mags and others.

Thread lock was discussed in the video and in the comments section. If you feel it necessary to use a torque wrench, then use it. I wouldn't torque it any more than 15-20 inch lbs.

So after a year, how is it holding up and how do you like it? How many rounds have you put down range with it, how accurate is it, and have you had any issues with it? Great video by the way. Very clear, very precise, no bullshht....good job👍

I love it! I've put about 1000 rounds through it, and I haven't had one issue with it yet. I use this gun for my own certifications that requires I use a revolver. It is very accurate and I can consistently do a 2 inch or less grouping at 15 yards.

Would it kill 'ya to memorize the parts nomenclature to help educate new 1911 pistol owners (by all accounts, this video is for first-timers), that "flappy hole" is the barrel link, the barrel "grooves" are the lugs, the "back" of the barrel is the breach, the "spring cap" is the recoil spring plug, the "striker plate" is the slide breach face, and a word of caution; if you ever need to replace your barrel link, don't Google "flappy hole" if minor children are present.
@reverendguns24 күн бұрын
🤣 yeah I would google "floppy hole". Thank you for the correct terminology. It will be very useful if looking for replacement parts. This channel is directed at people brand new to shooting and guns. I was just trying to make it easy to identify the things I was talking about.

Another great video...just subscribed. How were you able to mount the optic to the 686? Is it a dovetail plate is my guess? I'd love to do that to my 686 Pro! I installed a Dawson Precision front sight which helps some. My old eyes aren't as good as they used to be so iron sights are getting tougher to use. I have optics on all of my guns except my beautiful Kimber Rapids Dawn which I rarely shoot for that reason. Thanks!

Great vid, very helpful! I have an S&W 686 PC Pro which is an L frame so this kit should have worked. Main spring does not work on this model which I didn't know. I did end up putting the 13# rebound spring though and it diid reduce the SA pull to just under 3 lbs and the DA to just under 9 lbs (using the stock main spring) so definite improvement. Will hit the range soon to check it out...hoping for no light strikes but if I do I'll try the 14# spring.

@@reverendguns Yea I don't know why the main spring doesn't work with the Pro. After installing, every time I pulled the trigger the hooked/curved end of the spring slipped off and then the piece that it hooked on to would fall off. I reinstalled and tried again like 5 times and it did it every time. Finally just put the stock main spring back on and it works perfect. Maybe it's not curved quite enough to hold on to it...? And concerning the longer firing pin, I did hear about that and been thinking about putting one on just because. Prob should try it at the range first but if I put on the longer one I would definitely try the 12# spring. Watched your vid on the installation and your instructions are great. Thanks!
