I’m Not a driver. But I think this would be so beneficial if it were taught. If you can’t drive a manual, you can’t drive. Period. The fact that he knows this isn’t too damaging to his transmission is a testament to his his experience. What a great instructor.

I’m just learning in my Mack 2006 8-LL-L. This was a perfect video examples of the same situations I have had which resulted in pulling onto the shoulder to start over at 1st gear. I’ve been having some success at recover and down shifting! Thanks for making this video!!!

I wish that I had seen this a week ago. I was coming back from shoulder surgery and was told to recover an 8 speed from Houston to Illinois. I hadn’t been in a manual since trucking school 8 years ago and it was hard on the newly reconstructed shoulder. I made it there but lost gears s lot the first day, then shoulder was hurting by t the end of the second day! I was glad to be at our terminal. But now I wanna get back in it and try out your methods! Thank you.

Can you all HEAR the release brg RATTLING near the end of the video.....He fukked that brg in less than 20mins. What a fukkin joke....I would NOT EVEN let you teach my 16yr old daughter how to climb into a truck properly FFS. She has driven my 18 speed about 100 miles and she can shift better than you!!!!
@nyou22
@nyou22 Жыл бұрын
Riding the clutch pedal that way your release bearing will be shot in 50k and the clutch will destroyed less than 100k. Who the fuk would teach a newbie that kind shifting. WHO uses the clutch in that way anyway???? WHY NOT teach them the CORRECT way to shift in the first place?????!!!!! You just keep on SLAPPING that clutch taking your foot off instantly and the clutch will be done in LESS than 100k

I tested in a 10 Speed Cascadia but when I got my job my trainer was in an Auto so they put me in an Auto. I've been driving for 3 yrs now and I'm getting an 8-Speed Pete Friday. A little nervous but I will be getting a refresher from a top driver. Gear recovery was one of my biggest worries but after watching this video I feel much more confident. Thanks for the excellent information!

I trust this is your own truck you're dragging cog teeth on deliberately, I would be less than happy if it was my rig, but having said that a well made video for the novice and some experienced drivers.

I've just learned of a mistake that I've always made, I had always pressed the clutch all the way to the floor not knowing that it made things worse when the gear didn't grab! Especially on a down shift to engine brake! I'd always have to stop then start up all over again.

One of the hardest things for me to learn. We drove a 10 speed in class and they taught us 6th gear is the escape gear . If you're rolling least 15 20 mph and miss a gear put it in 6th . I want more practice in a Manuel. I can do it but I ain't good at it and now the company I'm with has all automatics .
