I'll just point out that USA students were terrible at math before Common Core came along. Common Core was trying to fix that problem. Is it the best solution? I don't know. I know that the USA has a culture that disapproves of education generally, and sneers at the educated as "elites". I suggest that is a far worse problem. Another part of the problem is you have kids who spend more time watching advertising on tv than they do paying attention in school. Truly, what do you ecpect?
