The photo of Sinclair canyon brought to mind a very scary incident. I was riding with my friend Gary Mitchell in his parents brand-new green 1959 Pontiac 4-door car. As we entered Sinclair canyon Gary reached down to turn on the windshield wipers, but accidentally turned off the headlights instead. We were driving blindly in the dark with sheer rock walls on either side of us, while Garry fumbled to turn on the lights.

Ms. Daniel's research is so profoundly important. Few have the courage it takes to pursue these topics, and what Ms. Daniel does puts her ahead of many students. Leave no stone unturned, Olivia!

I'm commenting here about a photo posted to the Lost Kootenays Facebook page as I'm not a Facebook subscriber. Photo is captioned "This fascinating and rare early shot of CPR's (Nakusp & Slocan Rwy) is thought to be at the Rosebery Barge Slip. But we now think it might be Nakusp. What are your thoughts?" The mountain skylines and hill shapes match a Google Earth View from the Rosebery Dock site in such detail that it couldn't be anywhere else. The valley in the background is that of Dennis Creek, a tributary of Wilson Creek.

Wonderful photos! Back in the early 90s I was at a garbage dump by 70mile house where someone had thrown out a box of old photos from the 1890s -1930s photos are mostly BC and a few of Alberta and Saskatchewan. I couldn't leave them there.

forscythe looks exactly like a guard i met while 'summering' for 6 months at the old burnaby BC jail, oakalla. it was back in '86 so i gotta wonder if his father was a guard ot maybe even a vancouver cop?

BC ruined the history ripping off the Japanese and stealing all their stuff. Shameful episode in history and a time of accepted racism. Russia lost far more people than the west and look at the tattoos we fund and arm in Ukraine now! My gramps fought said it was a scam,

I can't find any photos of what became of the TELUS Land Line Communication Site located just south of 6th between Alonzo & Station. Myself (from Vancouver BC) and a Jim Duncan (from Cache Creek) built the new computerized telephone switching technology site in 1989 (at that time BCTEL) I also removed the Old site antiquated telephone equipment after the new site was put into service. I was living in the Totem Motel at the time. Jim commuted from Cache Creek every day.
