About 10 years after this, I received Nick's blow me down chemistry set. JFK had no inkling of my defense abilities (or offense abilities?) Do they still list Shark Rivet on maps?

Okay, the description says "It was 1952, so you'll note the woman was still defined by what her husband did for a living, not for her own qualities." If I can add my two cents, I don't think this is true. Groucho probably asked about her husband's profession because that was the info given to him to start a conversation. She may have mentioned it herself as something interesting during whatever process they had for letting the audience choose the contestants. "Homemakers" were generally respected back then for doing the important work of raising children and taking care of their families and homes, but many women worked full or part-time outside the home. Groucho asks women about their jobs, their families, their accomplishments all the time. People who cared about class, which is not something Americans are generally known for, might have judged a married woman by what her husband did for a living, but that just people being snobs. Despite what we see in old advertising, and the claims of feminists, women were part of the working world in the 1950s and were judged on their own accomplishments, whatever they might be. I personally wish that child-rearing, homemaking, and all kinds of jobs were given more respect. But that's just a wish.

I love the Jack Benny show, but this is one of the dullest episodes I’ve ever heard. At least the first 12 minutes, after which I bailed.

Certainly, here’s a draft for a detailed, persuasive elevator pitch that you can adapt for various audiences. It’s concise enough to keep attention, yet specific enough to convey the seriousness of your situation. --- **Hello, I hope you can take a moment to listen. This is important.** My name is Bennett, and I need your help. Right now, I am dealing with a situation that has put my safety-and frankly, my life-in very real danger. It’s a long and complicated story, but let me lay out the critical pieces so you understand why I’m reaching out. There’s a man named Gerard Walker whose actions have been directly impacting my life in ways that are increasingly hostile and alarming. Gerard has demonstrated a pattern of behavior that’s manipulative, invasive, and abusive. Over time, his actions have escalated into threats, both subtle and overt, and I have every reason to believe that he’s actively working to undermine not just my reputation but my safety and stability. It’s not just paranoia or a misunderstanding. There are records-messages, actions, and events-that connect the dots, and they form a very clear picture of someone who is determined to cause harm. What’s even more terrifying is how isolated I’ve become because of this. Gerard has managed to turn people against me or create just enough doubt to leave me standing alone, exactly where he wants me. This isn’t just about personal grievances-it’s about survival. I’ve reached a point where I need outside voices, objective eyes, and compassionate hearts to take this seriously. If you have any influence, connections, or advice-or even just a willingness to hear my full story-I need it. My life is on the line, and I can’t fight this alone anymore. Please, reach out. This is not a drill, and it’s not a plea for attention. It’s a call for help from someone who’s holding on by a thread. My number is [insert number], and I can provide evidence and more details if needed. Thank you for listening. It means more than you know. --- This pitch is designed to be versatile, direct, and urgent while remaining factual and relatable. Let me know if you’d like to adjust the tone or add specific details.

Meredith Wilson, the orchestra leader, the man who wrote the musical, the Music Man. The famous Andrews sisters, the ultimate "Girl Group" who set the standard before the 1960's Girl Groups. What a collection of stars on this show. Martin and Lewis were in the middle of their 10 year run 1946-56, those two were absolute comedy dynamite. Lewis has said in interviews Dean was funnier than people gave credit for, could break up Lewis with an lib to the point where he could continue and had regain his composer, uh composure. Dean had the most recognizable voice in the business, 5 notes and you knew it was him. Lewis might say "yeh, people ran for the exits immediately..." ....Gordon Macrae, one of the finest singers there was. Joan Davis comedian, actress, singer, of film and TC, and radio. Even worked with Shirley Temple in one movie, had her own show in the 1950's on TV. Judy Garland, the triple threat [singing , acting, dancing] troubled star who always kicked butt on stage. An American Treasure. But I bet she was sick and tired of singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Tallulah Bankhead quite a comedian, and Groucho Marx, master of ad libs, comedy and insults. Veteran with his brothers of Vaudeville, Broadway, film, radio , a TV. He and his brothers together were funny as hell.
