A couple of points. She says she knows the timetable but that doesn't take into account late running trains, ECS movements or freight and charter trains. Also to the guy filming, you should be using your phone to call the police if you are that concerned about them trespassing instead of filming them, or contacting the signaller using the phone or phone number at the crossing.

I hate to say it but I've had close calls on railway tracks (high speed) by less than 10 seconds. Properly scary

The fact that soon as the first passed, the second appeared at some considerable speed yet idiots think there is no risk ? Look how quick that second one is !

damn, i didnt expect the train to be moving through at that speed :O now i understand your reaction. also, a nasty spot to hang around the rails. especially as it lies between two curved sections and passing high speed trains. good that the people went away. they probably didnt realize how dangerous that spot is. also, i just caught that there was a second train coming! all the more dangerous and unexpected.

300+ tonnes of train at 125 mph will sort them right out. Let them mouth their way out of that one. I would call it natural selection. If they don't care even when they were sensibly warned by a person who knows best why should we? You are way too nice and caring for these proto-nasty people.

Think of what the train driver has to deal with! I worked on the railway at a train shed when I was a teenager and the call came through that a suicide happened, I knew the driver and it destroyed him as the platform from where the person jumped was on the drivers side. He never returned to work as the trauma was just to great and he was put on medical retirement at the age of 35.

Personally I think unmanned public crossings need to be under 1080hp clear cctv remotely for trespassing or using the crossing unlawfully and have a area patrol unit if a situation happens.

At least with respect to the UK, that's complete and utter rubbish. Trespass on the lineside has always been taken seriously here, all the way back to the death of William Huskisson at the Rainhill trials in 1830. There has never been a time when nobody batted an eyelid at people randomly wandering around on a mainline UK railway. Indeed, in the old days when signalmen, trackworkers and policemen were much more numerous, odds are much higher that the kids would have been spotted and apprehended. If they were lucky they would have got away with a clip round the ear, many were less lucky and prosecuted.

Everyone is a comedian until their luck runs out. The thing is they might not be too bothered about their own lives but I once saw a video clip of a train driver who has been forced to give up his job because of the mental health issues he suffers from as a result of some kids who thought it would be fun to lob bricks at his cab window. Not only has he lost his job but he has had to split up from his wife and live in a dingy wee flat while attending councilling sessions. He can't really sleep properly and he wakes up with cold sweats. The signs are there for a very good reason.

Not only dangerous to the trespasser but also very scaring for the train driver. He sees someone at the side of the track and has no idea what that person is up to. And the driver knows he can't stop in time if the person is going to cross the track or comes near/on the tracks. The near misses are almost as terrifying for a driver as the actual hits. As a former driver I can tell you, I can remember those near misses as well as the ones where I got involved in an accident. Good job you did to tell them to stay of the tracks. Trespassing is very dangerous and absolutely not a game!

Why would you antagonize her, once she clearly picked up her stuff and left? Baiting her back into a confrontation where a train was about to pass, kinda feels like 'undo' on any good deed that happened here..
