Although Rita Coolidge sang this song, there nothing like the songwriter performing his own song. Beautifully done Boz .

Whilst I was vaguely aware of Boz Scaggs in the 60's/70's, I had no idea what a genius he is. Now I have rediscovered him, I can't stop listening. There really is no one like him.

Same. Always appreciated him but not like now. Can't stop. I hope he comes around in concert.

I cannot believe I was listening to Boz in the late 70's. And were both still around in 2024. Music makes life so worthwhile. It teaches us to put our heart and soul into everything we do.

I’ve been listening to several covers of this song and i must say that Boz Scaggs’s version is definitively the best one . However it’s a pity that Whitney Houston never sang that song, i think It would have been wonderful !
He changed the key so that he could perform live. I wonder how he recorded with the original key which is tenor. This one is barritone which reflects his true range. I love this song and I changed the key for my voice which turned out to be exactly same as this!!

I’m a baritone myself and was thinking of singing this. May I ask, was it melodic and pleasing to the ear when you did it? Were the top notes difficult?
@paulbassyahoo6 ай бұрын
@dddddadadad1796 As long as you adjust your key, you can hit the top notes fine. In fact, bunch of professional singers adjust the key too. i won several trophies at singing contest and always adjust the key. I always encoutner a tennor singer sings Journey with the original key and sounded like choking a chicken neck! LOL

This quickly became "our song" for my wife-to-be, a singer, when we met in '77 and discovered we had a mutual appreciation of Boz and this song in particular. We in fact would put the record on, and slow dance to We're All Alone in the apartment, with me singing and, I must say, doing a pretty good rendition of Boz's song. It is a great and mysterious song, highly cryptic and poetic in the best sense.
