I didn't use crash bars on my old xt660 tenere and I don't use it on T7. Bent crash bards can do more damage then if have nothing there especially if mounted to the engine. I use only acerbis skid plate which covers water pump and engine covers (both sides)

I did knobby ridge trails as my first off road experience on my chinese dual sport, also I only had 58 miles of riding experience total under my belt, was a blast, but very difficult for my experience level and bike, I also did crawford hills at the end of the season so i had a few hundred miles of experience by then and that was also super fun, can't wait to hit some more trails

The only difference between you and me is the boot size. I have a 13 all other numbers are a match. The only bike I ever enjoyed long term riding is the 1250GS Adventure with a tall rally seat and lowered pegs. The bike is so tall that the guys at the dealer ship only pull it when it is in for service lol. There a few no-go bikes for me, like the XR650l the Africa Twin, the KTM1290R or anything sport bike or Harley Davidson. Best bikes out of the box for tall riders are the Tiger 1200 with Off Rod Pegs, The KLR650 Gen3 and the Tenere 700. None of these need really anything to just ride them. I really want a DR650 but I am afraid there is nothing I can do to make it fit. So I might end up on a KLR650 even it has 80lbs more on the hips. For tight trails I ride a KLX230R and it didn't many mods to have fun on it :)

Good review! I'm going there next week. Lakeview OHV park near Solon, Iowa is my local park for the past two years now. It has come a long way in the past two years. It has two single track loops, roughly 7 miles each. Three trials areas, a variety of motocross tracks, sand pits, hill climbs, mud areas, youth track, tables, garbage cans, bathrooms and a nice big parking area. You should do a review!

Before going through any of this or drilling out and removing the ignition try one of your unused keys if you have one. It worked for me. I just experienced the same problem the last 2 days; both times away from home. Initially, I thought it was because the steering wheel had locked in an odd way but the 2nd time I was leaving a party and it would not turn so I did a google and bam this is what I got. I finally got the key to turn and hauled ass home. I got home and it happened again. Today, I pulled out one of my other ignition keys that have never been used and compared it to the used key and noticed the used key is badly worn. I used one of the unused keys and bam the truck started. I hope it was just a worn key and not the ignition (so far it's promising). If I have to I will remove and replace the ignition. I will update if things changes. I will keep this video in the vault.

It was a worn key. I've had no issue since using the new key (never used key), however, I did have Toyota program a new key. I tried all of the tricks out there to program the new Toyota key and nothing worked on the Sequoia, so I paid them jokers $146. I did get a 10% military discount.

I just replaced tubes, sprockets, fluids, bearings. I rode it for a season and sold it for $4k like I originally intended, BUT DAMN these DRZ's are so fricken good. I almost kept it and made it my only bike. If it wasnt so top heavy and clumsy offroad I could deal with sprocket changes often to deal with the trans.

You're wrong about not being able to open the drawers while the lid is closed. Make sure the drawers are open before you close the lid. The lid will go all the way down and the drawers will not lock & you don't have to slide the latch to open them. Before loading it onto a truck just open the lid then push the drawers in 1/2" 👍

You're kind of wrong about the differences between the new and old versions. In the beginning you mentioned the only difference between yours and the new version is the color of the bolts, where your version uses chrome and the new version uses black. You didn't mention that with the new style the sliding drawer unlocking lever is the full length of the drawers instead of one little tab to the far right. Also the new one has a hole with rubber grommet under the lid for power cord access.

Thanks. I live in Wyoming, MN and I'm trying to find places to ride my new KLX 300 off road. I grew up riding in S St Paul in the 70's where bthere were lots of places to explore and ride. Even then they complained about how we were destroying the land. AND then they came in with bulldozers and earth movers to build golf coarses. Oh well? Those posers are now the big bad asses on harleys thinking they're above the people that ride off-road. I see it every day. Sorry to rant . Have fun everyone and I have subscribed. I'm going to hit everyone of these spots you've shown. Thanks for this info I've been askinig about for years.

Drz are great for cheap but outdated, tenere was to big for my skills off road, ktm & Crf450l great race bikes but service intervals suck, hoping the legendary wr250r or a new Crf300l is perfect blend with some suspension work.
