I wish there were someone who sold Design Master paint. Now that Michael's discontinued it, it seems to be a wholesale only item or overpay the hiked prices on Amazon if you can find the color you want.

Tried this with some roses and they turned brown. What did I do wrong?

Spraying too closely to the flower will cause the petals to turn brown. Label directions recommend spraying fresh flowers from 15”-18” away. This distance allows the propellant in the spray to evaporate before landing on the bloom. Too close and it will freeze the petals causing the browning. This distance also provides control over how much color is applied. Light multiple coats are better than one heavy coat. It dries fast so not time consuming.

Hi there, how are the textures of the flowers after being sprayed? I tried to hand paint my orchids with acrylic gold metalic paint as well as gold fabric metalic spray paint and it turned the flower almost paper like which is not good. It looks nice, but it also can't feel like paper because I am making these into hair flower clips and I don't want people saying it feels like paper or feels hard. I want want texture to stay soft.. Any tips of keeping the fabric of the flower soft when using metalic paint? I even tried mixing the metalic gold paint with water but the color did not look rich enough. Thanks

On fresh flowers there is minimal change of petal texture. On silk flowers the sprayed finish feels lightly starched with the fabric remaining pliable. The more coats applied the heavier the finish. But normally 2 light coats still keep the fabric soft. Our sprays are not water soluble and will not mix well. The water will also interfere with the metallic pigments and remove the reflective qualities of the paint.

Yes, COLORTOOL® Spray and Just For Flowers® will color silk, dried, and most faux flowers. Avoid those that have a manufactured rubbery coating.

A clear topcoat on the metallic colors is not recommended as it will dull the color. Metallic pigments near the surface of the coating reflect light to produce the metallic look. Even though clear, a topcoat will interfere with the reflectivity and dull the look.

Hi! Does your 24k gold spray safe for flowers? Will it leave the metallic smell on the flowers? I’m looking roses in gold colour and wondering how they do it without making flowers brittle or leaving the spray can smell

24 KT Pure Gold and the other PREMIUM Metals sprays are not safe on fresh flowers. (They are ok to color foliages) However, the metallic colors in our COLORTOOL® Spray, I.E. Brilliant Gold, are safe on fresh flowers + foliage. When applied as directed on the can label the flower remains viable for the remainder of its normal shelf life. The aroma after spraying will dissipate.

Is it possible to lighten a color of a silk flower. Example, changing a pink flower to a blush. Thank you in advance. Oh and are you using matte or glossy?

Our colors perform best when taking a lighter color to a darker color. Pink to blush is a more gentle shift. Try our Just For Flowers or TintIT for shifting and choose an orange color to see if that will work. It depends on the surface you are spraying as well as the original color value. When applied as directed, the spray color does not harm the life of cut flowers. The treated flower would last as long as if it was not color enhanced.
