What a gem of history provided here! I saw E.T. with my parents at the Avon Theater in Stamford Connecticut on opening night and it was the most magical film I had seen to date, sans Empire Strikes Back. Two weeks later my father would tell my mother that we were going back to see it again, unbeknownst to me I was in for some fine Carpenter/Winston/Bottin magic!

Nashawaty makes an excellent point about the summer of 1982. These movies are epic. I distinctly remember seeing Tron, E.T., Poltergeist, and Wrath of Khan in the theaters. This was back when you could take the whole family to the movies and buy soda and popcorn without going into debt. Hard to pick a better summer. My favorite of these movies: has to Wrath of Khan. I will admit that Poltergeist scared the crap out of me. Can't decide if the clown doll was scarier (and this was before clowns were scary) or when the tree reaches in and grabs the boy.

This would have been elevated by the exclusion of the sidekick guy who is supposed to be funny. His vocabulary is so unrefined that he repeatedly curses instead of using adjectives.

Hi! Sidekick guy here. I find myself frequently overwhelmed by the sheer profundity of several of the selections made by our stellar guests in any given week. This should come as no surprise to the initiated, as we tend to welcome the cream of the critic class, as well as authors, filmmakers, and other creative ingenues with impeccable track records. We are proud to highlight their insight, knowledge, and often virtuosic grasp of cinema, as a medium and a culture. In fact, I often find myself so impressed and inspired by their approach to true art, that I am left grappling with the absolute depths of the human mind, heart, and experience. In those moments, I am only able to offer the most sincere, if admittedly base, responses to the poetry of film. At those times it is not only appropriate but absolutely vital to honor the true spirit of our instinctual, animal self by offering a hearty “fuck yeah”. Sorry you don’t like my jokes but I’m not quitting the podcast. 😂

1964 sadly the last year before we debased our currency bigtime. No more silver coinage, for selfserving Fed Reserve agenda. Ronald Reagen rightly lamented this in 64. WARNING IN BIBLE, TOKEN MONEY SIGN OF END DAYS FOR NATION !

GO JUST A LITTLE BIT FURTHER TO "ROCKAWY BEACH" AND ENJOY AN ATLANTIC OCEAN BEACH WITH SURF, STILL WITHIN NYC AND ALSO ALONG A SUBWAY LINE. PEOPLE ARE AMAZED AT OCEAN AND SURF RIGHT IN NYC.

I heard he's in one of the bar scenes in COFFY - he liked to moonlight. Weird.

Having just read your utterly vile review of 'Sound of Freedom' in the Guardian, may I suggest you do some minimal research, even on Google, to apprise yourself of the extent and pervasiveness and horror of child trafficking, before you shoot your stupid, woke mouth off. But just to really tick you off, I pray you will be surrounded by angels for the rest of your life.
