Hi! Love your videos. I just had a question in the root system of your plants. I noticed you said you had one of your pepper plants for over 100 days. Do you trim your roots at all? If so, how often. If not, then how do you manage taking the plants out when it’s time to get rid of the plant?
@TheBestGroceries5 күн бұрын
I don't usually trim the roots unless they're blocking the flow of water or if there are too many roots and it's pushing the tray lid out of place (in that second case it's just so it looks nicer). When I remove the plant from the garden I lift up the tray and rip/cut the roots off and then pull the net cup out of the tray once the roots are off.

I thought I posted a comment here but maybe I forgot to click the button. I wanted to thank you again for yet another great video. I wanted to ask you a few questions related to your experience: 1. Have you been able to re-grow plants from the original seeds after the plants had bloomed and produced fruit? Have you been able to grab a seed from those peppers and grow them again or do you have to keep ordering from Rise Garden every time? 2. Do you know where I can buy Koppert online? I was not able to find a store.
@TheBestGroceries5 күн бұрын
I have successfully harvested seeds from other plants and regrown them but not these peppers specifically. The ones I'm growing are not from Rise and I still have more in the package so haven't needed to collect my own yet (but I will when I run out!). You can save any pepper seeds from a ripe pepper, dry them, and regrow a new plant as long as your plant is not a hybrid variety. It looks like if you're in the US then you can order Koppert products through this store www.koppertus.com/retail-shop I'm in Canada and they have a separate Canadian store retail.koppert.ca/collections/shop

I’m was thinking about doing this and wondering about the Rise garden and Gardyn tower especially for the peppers and cucumbers. So glad this video came up on my feed! Look forward to to more videos from you soon!

I have both. Go with Rise Garden, it will provide you with way more value for your money. Everything about Rise is better quality. I have posted a very lengthy trust pilot review on Rise Garden where I compare it to Gardyn and if you go there you will be able to read in detail why I prefer Rise over Gardyn.

You dont have trouble with the lettuce and tomatoes/cumbers requiring differnt npk/pH during their lifecycles? Im trying to decide if i should buy a smaller garden to start with and dedicate it to greens.
@TheBestGroceries12 күн бұрын
I found that all plants were able to grow reasonably well however I did purchase a second garden because I loved the first one and wanted to grow even more. Now that I have 2 gardens my plants are separated into fruiting and non-fruiting plants to be able to provide different nutrients to each as you described. I suppose it depends on how much you want to grow. In my greens garden I have 2 full levels dedicated to a lettuce rotation so that I can have a continuous supply (and that's just for 2 people). I posted a video tour of my garden (Sept 2024) today that you might be interested in.

I wrapped my rise garden in light reflective panda paper and it grows like a monster! I also have the paper on the surface of each level with squares cut out for each plant space. Highly recommend this 😊

Excellent thought process! Very creative and thank you for sharing! I am impressed with how your plants can utilize the full height of the system and go all the way to the top. Sounds like you are still having issues with pests? Did you find a solution since then?

I used rare earth magnets from Amazon to attach my trellis which works great for the garden
@TheBestGroceriesАй бұрын
I considered all sorts of ways to attach the trellis, there are many options that would work. In the end I chose the hooks because I already had them.

I have the same question as to what seedless pods do you use? Great video! I have a personal rise, so will modify but do a similar technique. I will have 3 - 4 heads per week. I will keep them in the 8 hole tray, since that is the least amount of holes tray. in a personal;

I'm so excited to get your information for the chiller! My water is too warm at 83 degrees. Which chiller did you buy?
@TheBestGroceries5 ай бұрын
Hi Claudia, I'm now 16 days into the experiment and I can say that it appears to be working! I bought a cheap aquarium chiller from Wal-Mart. It's doesn't have a high enough capacity to keep the temperature at the level I set (it still creeps up during the day) but it's keeping it lower than previous. I'll share the details and pros and cons of it in my follow up video in another 2-3 weeks.
@claudiadraper35225 ай бұрын
@@TheBestGroceries Thank you for the update! I think I'll get the Ice Probe chiller as I need my room temperature fairly high and it drives the garden temperature up from the ambient air temperature too much. My garden is struggling with wilting, yellowing, curling, and brown edges..and leaves twisting. It seems to do well for the first two week after cleaning. I have some solids in the water too. Some roots are white and some are cream. Anxiously awaiting your report!
@claudiadraper35224 ай бұрын
I actually ended up buying a 42 gallon chiller. It is working well!

Hi Shanna. I would like to get some 3D net cup covers. Would you be willing to print me some or tell me where I can buy some or how to get the instructions for printing them? My grandson has a 3D printer. I bought some off of Etsy, but they weren't small enough to fit in the nurseries and now they don't sell them anymore. Also what type of nozzle to use for food grade. TIA

Here is a link to the 3D print model for the net cup covers. The link is for the original design and there are also 2 other versions that I made that you can see under the remixes tab. www.printables.com/model/354671-rise-garden-net-cup-lid I printed these using food grade PETG that I purchased on Amazon. Food Grade PETD Filament for 2D Printing (USA) - www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBBGNDCY/ref=twister_B0D2KYDBJN?_encoding=UTF8&th=1Food Grade PETD Filament for 2D Printing (Canada) - www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0BBBH7R82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I don't remember the print nozzle size but it was the original one that came with the printer, nothing special.

Does all the information you need come with this system? We just ordered a two tier system
@TheBestGroceries5 ай бұрын
Assembly instructions come with the garden. There is a "Rise" app that tracks all your plants and gives instructions on tasks you need to do and how to do them (such as thinning, pruning, and adding nutrients).
