The other day I saw someone talking about buying macbooks with broken screens for incredibly cheap and using it with an external monitor; having found a laptop with a 10th gen i5 processor and 16gb RAM for $120NZD due to a broken screen, I'm realising getting that + one of these secondhand for like $200NZ would give me a pretty solid and portable device for a really low cost. I already have a beefy desktop with a cintiq 16, but I keep finding myself a little drained by sitting at the same desk in my flat for hours and hours. The windows don't open so it gets really hot in the summer too, so I feel like it would be nice to have a portable option I could take outside or to a library or whatever. Do you have any thoughts on how it would perform being the only display for a laptop, in terms of reliability? The only things that worry me are the overheating and potentially short lifespan, since you'd want it to last and work properly if you don't have another display.

If you are planning to connect it to a capable smartphone or your PC/laptop is capable of sending power, data signal, and video through USBC then I'd say it's worth it, since having only 1 cable plugged in is cleaner and more convenient.

Guys, read the actual post. Perpetual licenses will still be available, but you won't get free updates anymore unless you either buy a new license or rent an update pass. I get that people are upset about it, but there's no way this could have lasted forever, and the software vendor still has to make money, which is impossible if they give everyone free updates for life. At least this way we still have a choice. As long as they don't go full Adobe, I'm good. I wish there was a way to upgrade at a discount, but don't forget that this program goes on sale all the time.
@dakotamathews10252 жыл бұрын
It isn't much that as much as it is for me that by the time v3 comes out funcionality support for v1 will expire thus making users who do not want to upgrade, force to upgrade and pay for updates.
@atoaster20702 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry about that too much, since 64 bit software has a much longer lifespan than 32 bit. Even if it's not officially supported in future OS builds, there are always workarounds. When I was a student, most of my teachers were still using Adobe CS6, because that was the last version to offer perpetual licenses.
@Crazy_Sue2 жыл бұрын
Perpetual doesn't mean shit in this new buisness model. You can "buy" 2.0, but all you get is 2.1 (2.0 + the first bug fix/stability patch) that's it. Nothing further for 2.0. That isn't worth anything to me. And if your subscription runs out, you have to reinstall 2.1 IF you have the 2.1 lisence. Otherwise you have to reinstall back down to 1.0.
@KingFearless2 жыл бұрын
They could have still made money if they just rename the program clip Studio ex maxed out version or whatever the hell they wanted to call it and then made that a one-time payment with extra features and updates for a year but lifetime license... their software that do it all the time but to lean towards a subscription model it's just scumbagy.

is the same thing happening with CS pro? I bought mine a few months ago. I hope they're gonna come to their senses and realise their existing clients won't have any of this, and stay on the current plan.
@jointjo47392 жыл бұрын
When I read it on the website it sounds like it is for both pro and ex. I wish they will still provide a perpetual license for every major version release. But even then I still think it's too expensive to keep buying a new version.

Great video! I have some of questions. How does the anti-glare film deals with scratches? After a year, is there any significant worn signs? And, how does the screen size feels? Would you have gone for 16" or 13" is ok?
@jointjo47392 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I would say the film is quite good, although if you draw hard then it will scratch. Also the nib of the pen gets worn out and it can turn to a sharp point and that can cause a scratch. I would say scratches are inevitable and that's the only worn signs I had after a year, a few scratches on the film. But I would think that if you carry the tablet around then you will have others. 13 inches is ok, but I heard that 16 is the sweet spot for size and mobility, and if I had more budget at the time I would've bought the 16.
@jeesellem.d.93192 жыл бұрын
@@jointjo4739 I see, I guess the etched film makes the pen tip worn out faster. I'm trying to decide between the Kamvas Pro 16 (2019) and this Kamvas 13. I thought the disconnect problem was because people weren't setting the huion as the primary screen and in mirror mode (where It's the same image in both screens). I've seen videos where they had to do those things to make the tablets work, even from other brands. And what does the Steam, a gaming app, have to do with a drawing tablet? Does closing the app from running in the background fix it?

@@jointjo4739 On reddit multiple people said their costumer service is trash, even if your unit is still in the return window they don't want to give you a refund nor a replacement. The warranty is just to look pretty because they won't fix your tablet. The weird thing is: I have 3 friends who have Huion for at least 1 year and a half and none had problems. 2 Have the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 and one the Pro 13, all use Windows 10 and 2 use Steam. I was thinking of going with one of those models but now I'm debating. Maybe I should go with Xp-pen or Wacom. Also, although they say not to install the latest drivers, have you tried actually installing them? It's an easy process and maybe could fix your issue that sadly is common with Huion.
