I’m not sure about your pepper spray tip. I think my Alma mater (Johnson & Wales University) did not allow pepper spray when I was attending. And I’m not sure that’s such a good tip given the climate in the world when someone says something that counters someone else’s beliefs and is called violent among other things. I’m a born again Christian. So, I’d likely get pepper sprayed for my beliefs. The workshop that was offered was a joke. Nothing about self defense. In addition to my bipolar meds I mentioned in your previous video … I had a textbook stolen when I was at work study. I had to buy a new one. And the textbook was over $100 because it was a newer version (nothing new that I could tell). My professor helped coauthor it. My parents bought me a new backpack and padlocks with a key (master lock) for it. Safety and security was unkind to me when I reported my textbook stolen. Mainly because I needed to get to class. I allowed enough time to report it. They just dragged their feet. I’m Andrew.

Thank you for sharing your experience, Andrew. It’s important to consider the rules and the climate of each campus regarding self-defense tools. Your perspective on pepper spray is valuable, and it’s true that not all campuses allow it. It’s always best to check with your specific school’s policies. I’m sorry to hear about the issues you faced with security and the workshop. It’s frustrating when support systems don’t work as expected. Thank you for sharing your story and contributing to this important discussion. Stay safe.

Yep. I have bipolar. And my meds were stolen several tablets at a time. And this was back in the 2000s. I’m meaning my bipolar meds. Though the people stealing my meds were guests of my roommates.

I'm so sorry to hear that you went through that. It’s really important to have secure storage for your medications, especially in shared living environments like dorms. Using a portable safe or a lockbox can be a good solution to prevent theft. Thanks for sharing your experience, and I hope things have improved since then. Stay safe!

@@SecurityProInsights I concur. But in 2003 to 2007 that wasn’t available. At least in Vienna, Virginia. Otherwise my parents and I would’ve absolutely purchased one. We discussed it after graduation. My psychotropics actually required that I get authorization to bring them each school year. I’m a Johnson & Wales University grad (not culinary). So, as I recall they didn’t drag their feet too much on that. Though it did require that I change dorms due to how directly I confronted the person who was stealing them in my upperclassman years. Anger issue my ass.

@@abkeener81 Thank you for sharing more about your experience. It sounds like you went through a lot during those years. It's great that you and your parents considered all options to protect your medications. I'm glad to hear that you were able to address the situation, even though it required changing dorms. These days, there are definitely more options for securing personal items, which is a positive change. It's important to continue advocating for better security measures in shared living spaces to prevent such issues. Thanks for your insight and for highlighting the importance of this topic!

Are there particular doors or windows recommend for the pet stickers?
@SecurityProInsights
@SecurityProInsights 4 ай бұрын
Great question! Pet alert stickers are best placed on front and back doors, as well as on or near the main windows that are most visible from the street. This helps ensure that in the event of an emergency, first responders can quickly see the stickers and know that there are pets inside who might need assistance. It's also a good idea to update these stickers with the number of pets currently in your home, so the information stays accurate. Thanks for watching, and I'm glad you're taking steps to enhance your pets' safety!

Total bullshit. What's a few seconds advantage when it takes tens of minutes if not better part of an hour for to cops to arrive. It's a waste of money.
@SecurityProInsights
@SecurityProInsights 8 ай бұрын
I understand your concerns about response times, and you're right that law enforcement arrival times can vary. However, every second counts in an emergency situation. Intrusion detection, like door and window sensors, provides you with an early alert, which can be crucial for your safety. It's not just about police response but also giving you more time to react, find a safe place, and contact authorities if needed. Home security is about layers of protection, and intrusion detection is one important layer. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
