My advice is to talk about something that you have been playing lately (or that you want to play). I'm still on my Mage game but I think I have managed to cram a game of Blades in the Dark with play by post. While both games are more geared toward the narrative side, I think I would like to do a more tactical game next (but I'm a little burned out with D&D... having to read the new rules is something I'm not looking forward to do)

I read Transformer rules but I haven't been able to play it, I mostly use Roll20 and they have taken out the Sheets there because HASBRO doesn't want to share more IPs. The system is... mostly 5e but with a cuple of things, basically it's using proficiency dice. If I remember right, if you are smaller you ALSO have less HP and in the game you don't gain HP at each level. You also have VERY different speeds... The idea I had to play the game was to center it around the War for Cyberptron. I really liked the 2 video games and it would be interesting to play out the war when you aren't a super heroic autobot but a level 1 grunt. Not really a game for young people, I would say that it's even more complicated than DnD... somehow.
@theinsomniacgm1221 Жыл бұрын
I’d have to look over that again. It’s been awhile since I’ve looked at it and I think the hp is over sight of mine. War of cybertron would be great. I never played but I bought my brother the games and would watch him play it. Your campaign idea is the way I like playing, where the players are ordinary people or in this case autobots. Yeah, I find the game is too complicated for kids. It surprises me they didn’t make it easier with how transformers is a children’s ip. It would be a great jumping on point for kids to get into RPGs while keeping it open for older fans like us to play.

Since you are practicing sweden, Mork Borg is pronounced something like Mork Bori. As for what RPG I have which is a treat to switch pages... probably my Planescape collection, the art from DiTerlizzi is excelent and has only got better over the years. As for complex... @estebanrodriguez5409 Жыл бұрын
@@theinsomniacgm1221 I like Planescape for what it is, while it has all the cool places you can imagine, that extra freedom also means it's going to challenge you more as a GM when you build scenarios. The usual question is "How do I stop my players from ruining the adventure by crossing a gate to another plane?", that sort of stuff. Planescape shines when you really play out the different ideas, pit the factions against each other and let the players decide which side they are in. But there is a bit of a tension between the character driven game the core ideas of the setting aspire to... and the reality of the D&D game system.

@theinsomniacgm1221 Жыл бұрын
It uses a combination of the years zero rules with 5e. Instead of multiple d6s you use a single d20 but advantages and disadvantages stack. Taking a condition grants disadvantage on all rolls using that stat. I believe you can get the solo rules separately from the game on drivethru. I know right, it’s from the same artist that does vaesen if you haven’t seen it.

Well that's a thumbnail... Probably the licensed RPG I have played the most is Star Wars. I GMed for around a year or more StarWars SAGA, it was a gamed that followed some of the plotline of Knights of the Old Republic Comic. For quite some time I have been meaning to play M&M with my brother using the licensed DC books that use the same rules. My brother doesn't play games but we both like Batman and comics... I was thinking about a story similar to the KGBeast, with a more grounded Batman that isn't absurdly competent in everything but still is a good detective and hand-to-hand fighter.

@@theinsomniacgm1221 Another era I like from SW is during the Clone Wars, there are tons of interesting statblocks for enemy droids or clone-troopers, and making adventures around military misions is pretty easy. I think I have never had a death at my table, some close calls. I shoot to kill, but I'm a fan of the PCs. Having said that, I have never played RPGs that are more letal and where PCs death is far too common. One PC death I remember, we were playing Call of Chtulhu a series of adventures called "The Fungi from Yuggoth". We were in in some castle in Europe and one of the PC got killed by a Star Vampire from doing something deliberately stupid. Turns up the player didn't wanted to keep playing so he killed the PC... that also sort of killed the campaign (which I was enjoying a lot). My take away is that if a player wants to leave the table, you probably have to talk it out with the whole table.
@theinsomniacgm1221 Жыл бұрын
I’m with you on being a fan of the players. I’ve had more deaths than I’d like but that is mainly from playing 5e and players keep pushing for me to give them a harder challenge and after sometime it jumps so bad because I can’t figure out a good balance between challenging and fun. Other than that my deaths have been from going in without a plan, getting cocky, luck not on a players side or doing something really really stupid like turning over an artifact to a cult that needs the item to awaken an elder god. I love call of Cthulhu:) thank you for your story. I’m sorry the campaign had to end on a sour note.
