I enjoyed your video. I am currently a respiratory therapist but going to school for my bachelor in HIM. I am 57 so I worry about my future. I don’t want to be a coder. I really would like auditing or compliance so something like that. I have been so worried if I am in the right track on this school thing. And worried I won’t have time once I get out of school to work my way ok the ladder. Thanks so much.

Hi my name is Jessica Gentry and im getting my bachelor's degree in HealthCare Administration in Concentration in Health Information Management. My question is can I take the RHIA exam? Im interested in becoming a Health Information Management. I would like to get my masters degree in HealthCare Information Management
@candie_coleАй бұрын
Hi Jessica, I recommend speaking with your academic advisor or program director over the HIM program to see if you can sit for the RHIA exam. If the program is accredited by AHIMA, you should be able to sit for the test. Your academic advisor will have the best answer for you.

Good for you!! I understand what you mean.i feel like the recruiters or hiring managers may not understand how hard it is to pass this certification exams. And the knowledge you bring to the table. For me, I have my RHIT and ccs-p. And because I don’t have a lot of experience in healthcare like years is what I mean. I have barely 1 year year in a half, however I haven’t been able to get a coding nor revenue cycle position. It’s so hard to know at times like man did I go to school for nothing. But I still hope in God that with time he will open the door. This is so unfair for you, you didn’t sign up for this. 😮 I’m sorry you are going thru that.

Enjoyed your video ! I also had to learn to keep people I work with as co workers only not as true friends or at minimum till I have gotten to know over a very long period of time. Even then my guard is up with what I share with that person.
@paulaneary78773 ай бұрын
Jeez, I also took the medical coding test and missed it by only a few points. I had worked so hard and was so disappointed that I did not go back and do it again. I also felt like maybe it would be a bit too much pressure for my brain having to do a quota of files each hour. I can learn things very well, but may not have been quite as quick as they might have wanted. IDK.

Hello. I am very guarded with what I share with people at work besides what they need to know. Hope you keep making videos! I do not see many people making videos on Rev cycle or RHIA/RHIT credentialed folks. Keep up the good work!

Great to see you!! Looking good lady!! I work in Rev Cycle. My experience is my manager is friends with our say coordinator, so it is hard for her to see what those of us who work under her sees. I stopped bringing my concerns to my manager, and others have too. Makes for a difficult situation with a very divided team. I have also been in your situation, haulted communication besides courtesy. 🎉❤Again Great seeing you!!

That had to of been really frustrating bc as we know you don’t need the CRC in your role . I also was wondering if u are searching for a remote role? I ask this bc I have had better luck remote. As in you can work for any company not just in ur state and a lot of the companies will pay at there state cost of living and not the one u reside in ( I know not all of them do but a lot do ) and what about a role in CDI ? You got this either way ! Hang in there :) this is just a bump in the road

Hi Robin, great question. Revenue Cycle management focuses on the overall process of managing patient accounts and reimbursement (from an operations perspective), while Revenue Integrity specifically targets maximizing revenue and minimizing compliance risks.

The job market is extremely tough right now. Having a clinical background paired with HIM is a plus. Do not get discouraged when applying for jobs. I often read posts from people who have applied for over 100 jobs, each one with a rejection. Keep pushing through! Have several different versions of your resume. Also look into resume building, or a career coach. I am considering those options myself.
