There's a lot of speculation about the age of Mary at the time of the miraculous conception. There is nothing in the text about Mary's age. Also, notice in Mary's Song (Luke 1:46-55) if she thought she was "forced to conceive Jesus." 46 And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; 49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. 50 And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; 52 he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; 53 he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, 55 as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

Friend I think we are talking past each other. We certainly don't need to talk at each other. ευαγγελιον is Greek for good news. This clip and the sermon it came from is trying to get at a summary of what the good news was that Jesus commanded to be preached to all creation. Please feel free to look through other videos to see the gospel preached week in and week out in worship. I hope what is found below will show a summary of the gospel hope we have because of Jesus's death, resurrection, and assension. These are the verses alluded to in the sermon clip. The followers of Christ were charged with turning the whole world on it's head in Thessolonica in Acts 17:6. Each of the statements made were direct ties to scripture about what is the substance of this good news that turned the world on it's head by their preaching: 1 Cor 15: 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” Revelation 5 - The Lamb slain who is the lion from the tribe of Judah is worthy to be praised. Romans 4:24-25 "It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification." Who shall bring a charge aginst God's elect? -- Romans 8:31-35 "31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" There is hope because of the resurrection of Jesus: 1 Corinthians 15:20-28 -- "20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming. 24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For “He has put all things under His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him,” it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all."

Great suggestion. We've read it together in family worship. Sometimes logistics make it that the kids can't join in on coffee and devotions.

We teach it to our children because the words of the Scripture are historically and theologically true. And, God has commanded us to teach them to our children: Deut 6:6-9 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
