I tried out for flounder and Ariel but I got Grimsby and I did so better than this other girl like this girl she'd got Ariel and me and her were the only ones who really stood out like it isn't then this girl who was so shy in auditions and didn't even sing when everyone had to sing to try out got Ursala like it's really favoritism

I’m playing Orpheus for my high school doing Hadestown and a lot of the transposes are actually perfect. It’s only a full step down for the epics which fits my voice really well, and Hades is an octave up to fit a more baritone actor, which is fine considering most Broadway actors other than Page sing Hades an octave up a lot of the time anyway. We’ve also come up with good ideas to incorporate the larger ensemble for songs like chant, so I’m super excited for our performance in a couple months!

My school is doing The Lightning Thief for the spring musical and I was really excited until I found out today I got cast as bus passenger #1. I'm really upset about it right now. I don't know if I'll even like the role or be happy with it. Unfortunately I completely messed up my audition because I was so stressed, so I think that's why :/ Unfortunately it's my senior show, so I won't be getting any more chances, at least with my current group

My audition isn't for another 5 months, but it's my dream role so I'm way too excited and trying to be as prepared as possible. I'm going for Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice Jr. She's my dream role and I seriously relate to her, be it personality and even clothing style. The issue is I have both ADHD and severe anxiety so I move way too much when I'm nervous. Ive had no clue what to do woth my hands since I started two years ago, but I've had great progress. My biggest role so far was Veruca in Willy Wonka Jr

Auditioning for my dream role in a few months.. Lydia Deetz, I relate way too much to her even down to clothing style and personality. Beetlejuice has always been my favorite show and I found the junior show happening in july.. The only thing that scares me is they have ONE WEEK to put one the show. I doubt we'll get anything actually done.. And I know I have the skill and everything I need for the character and audition, but I'm scared that someone might just.. be better. Yknow?

I auditioned for a musical and messed up very badly during my audition (want to mention I have NEVER taken voice/singing lessons/choir or anything) I froze up the first time, and during the second time, I messed up the ending notes. I could sing the notes when they were played for me, but my nerves got the better of me. I could do the monologue (and I was shaking like I had restless leg syndrome). Despite how bad I thought I did, I still got called back! I’m re-watching this video to try to help me nail my second audition! Even if I’m not casted I’m so glad to have even been considered, thank you for all the helpful tips :)

I auditioned for my school’s performance in, like, September. It was my first musical, Suessical Jr. I got callbacks for Gertrude and Mrs. Mayor, and ended up getting Mrs. Mayor! I used a lot of the things mentioned in the video before I even saw this video 😂😂 Projection is a big part, and the director said that it was one of the deciding factors-honestly, projection is really something I could work on.

[Venting Paragraph] (I know she said you shouldn’t vent on social media, but this feels like a safe space, and I don’t believe anyone in the production I’m in will be reading this.) It’s hard to accept that I got ensemble, AGAIN, in a show that is no-cut, and the same people get cast for big roles over and over. People keep telling me lousy comforting things like ‘Ensemble is Important’, but I have been in choirs and have never been singled out for really anything, and it just hurts to be shoved to thw background again and again. I love acting, and I love the shows, and being ensemble is fun, but it doesn’t make it hurt any less to be in the background, yet again. It isn’t even about attention really, it’s about my image to myself, because I’ve always been in groups and sang and acted in private and everything, and I felt like I was always just ‘ensemble’, and I guess it was just me trying to prove I was any good, because being in group choirs and singing in private and things like that, you never really get singled out, and you never really know if you’re any good, and being rejected after being a solo singer for once in my life again and again and again just stings. It feels like I’m only meant for the background and wasn’t any good to begin with, and it’s even worse because our caster and pianist are the sweetest people on the planet, and they always talk you up, which you’d think would make someone feel better, except that I got all that rewarding affirmations, and then I got ensemble. I know they’re trying to encourage me to keep working, but it honestly feels misleading, I’d be less upset if I just knew upfront, I hate the nerves of waiting. I know I need to pick my head up and learn what I can, but it sucks, because I can’t dance for the life of me, and ensemble is mostly dancing, and I don’t wanna have to keep learning dances when I learn half as fast as literally EVERYONE ELSE, and then I just end up being a really obscure ensemble member in the background who never speaks OR dances, and I just feel useless. Sometimes I wish it was cut, because then I would’ve known if I would even have gotten INTO the production anyways. It sucks because I genuinely felt good about my audition this time (and we are a somewhat small school), and many people complimented my belt because they said they could hear it from the hallway, and I was genuinely impressed with myself, and then I got ensemble. I would have been happy with even a named ensemble member, but no, I’m just ensemble. And I’m really losing my confidence in these productions. I just wish that I could know why I wasn’t cast half the time. I know it’s usually because I wasn’t fit for any of the parts, I see that, but I still feel like I did something wrong, or that it’s a popularity contest, and the same damn people always win it. Thank you for reading my vent. ❤
