Does Front Facing F get sewn to Sleeve Front Facing H at some point?

The short answer is… not really. If you email me, I can send over a picture of what it looks like inside.

I may not make the dress, but this was so helpful with general construction techniques.

Kia Ora from New Zealand. I am making 2 versions of this dress. I have really struggled with the seam from the dot through the underarm to the other dot. I keep getting holes or clumps. I have needed to add a centimetre to the Arm and curvy bit of front bodice to cover my bra strap. The bust was too loose then, will it be okay to shave off 1 cm from the front facing. Any help appreciated!

So excited to start this project! I'm hoping to incorporate it into an upcoming cosplay (A humanised version of the Pokemon Chandelure). Do you have any suggestions regarding petticoats vs linings in giving the skirt a fuller look? And are there any video suggestions or information you can give on tailoring the pattern for personal use? Specifically sleeves and bodice?

I'm flatlining A, B, C, D per instruction on optional flatlining, but seems odd to me that E-Bodice Back is not optionally flatlined, and the zipper is not fully faced. I'm using a thin material, and the contract between E and D is kind of obvious. Is there a mistake in the instructions?

Thank you for your question. You are correct that we mistakenly left out “E” from the optional flat lining patterns. If you are flatlining the bodice, we definitely think you should include the bodice back. Could you clarify what you mean by a “fully faced zipper? You can always clean the inside of the zip with a straight strip of fabric. We don’t usually line the bodices. Thanks! We look forward to hearing from you!

@@ericwinterlinginc.7015 Thanks!!! I was thinking that if E is not flatlined, perhaps it should be interfaced instead. But thanks for clarifying! I've added flatlining to E, and it makes so much mroe sense now.
Hello Eric, I’m so excited about making this dress for a 50th wedding anniversary party I have been invited to. Could you please explain about flatlining as I don’t understand how to do this as it is something new to me. Kind regards Alison

A flat lining is usually an inexpensive plain- weave fabric that provides stability for the face fabric. It’s usually black or white as it’s not meant to be seen. It’s cut the same as the bodice, but not the facings or the skirt for this dress. We flatline the bodice to give it more structure and so that we get a closer fit. I will give a tutorial shortly on my channel but all you need to do is cut your same pattern shapes and pin them to the wrong side of your face fabric. Using a longish machine stitch, stitch at ½” seam allowance trying not to pivot at corners but run the stitches off. After that, work the two layers as one and make your bodice using ⅝” seam allowance like the pattern calls for. Hope this makes sense. Will post more info in the next few days. Take care. Can’t wait to see your dress!

Eric, thank you for the gorgeous pattern! 🙏🏻 I have a desperate question regarding the circle marks on the front sleeve / back bodice pieces . If I draw in my sewing lines on the pattern pieces 5/8" in from the cutting line, should the circle marks be where the sewing lines meet? Because on my pattern pieces they are a LOT further in, so when I try to match things up while sewing there are a lot of puckers... Any advice is greatly appreciated ! Irina

Hi there! I was hoping to get some clarification on step 3b - where does the square on the Bodice Side Front B line up with on the Sleeve Front C? Sorry if this is a silly question but I cannot figure it out!

@@ericwinterlinginc.7015 I am also confused about this part. There is a dot on the Sleeve Front C, but no square. I'm not sure how to line up.
