I see this was 3 years ago so maybe you learned by now but if you turn your fan off when the Kori's open it will not smoke. What's happening is the fan being on is creating a draft outside your stove and pulling the smoke out. Hope this helps! I have one like this and love it.

I have the HT3000 stove setup in the 1st floor, even with our fireplace in our living room upstairs it easily heats our house. I know it's much larger all the way around but it's same brand and similar style. Very well built, simple for a new stove and pounds out the heat. Learning curves steep compared to the older smoke dragons

I also didn't use the fireplace plate so if anybody feels concerned about theirs not fitting their fireplace, I'd recommend going without the faceplate. Looks more rustic and fitting for the cabin, imo but that's just my opinion so ya'll may want diff. =)

To ANYONE who bought a Drolet woodstove. YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A PRINCESS BLAZE KING. Up to 30 hours burn time on 60 lbs of wood . Drolet = 3&1/2 hrs Princess BLAZE King has a 6 inch DEEPER fire box which equates into NO EMBERS FALLING OUT when you stoke it. Drolet the embers slant to the front . I've had flaming wood FALL OUT of the stove when I opened the door. For the money, GET A PRINCESS BLAZE KING. You will SPEND LESS on your firewood .
@RESTORED_REPUBLIQ
@RESTORED_REPUBLIQ 3 жыл бұрын
If youre buying fire wood you shouldnt have a stove. Youre depending on someone else for heat when in reality having a stove or fireplace puts you at an advantage.. and did you not hear him? He had more then an 8 hour burn over night...

Interesting. I hired a heating contractor...Silver Knight Heating in Victoria, BC...to move the installation of my Drolet. He did a super hard press on trying to sell me a new Blaze King. He became so pushy I fired him before he started. When I had a chance, I compared the Blaze King model he was pushing to the Drolet I already had...and the Drolet came out on top for all values...BTU output, length of burn, efficiency, particulates...absolutely every value, and this was an 8 year old Drolet compared to a brand new Blaze King. So I am calling BS on you, Gman.

Did you insulate the liner before installing? I've got the same stove with an insulated 12' liner and it does not smoke up the room when reloading.
@danorion369
@danorion369 3 жыл бұрын
I didn't use any insulation for my liner. Wonder if it matters that much since it seems to have done the job for me at my 19 degrees mountain cabin. =). Be sure to burn not only dry wood but Oak if ya can since the burn time is much longer. I was skimping at first since it's like 75% more expensive but the burn time is like 75% longer so it actually works out better since you'll have to do less box reloads. = )
@orion3267
@orion3267 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think he opened the flue all the way before loading it up. With any stove, you should open the flue to fully vent before you open the door. I believe it even says that in all of the manuals.

Glad to know you're happy with your Drolet stove! Regarding the smoke issue: maybe it is because your house has a negative air pressure? You could try to open a window for 1-2 minutes before loading your appliance, then load the wood and open the air damper to max, then once your flames are going again, close the window. Hope this helps!
@ticat3
@ticat3 3 жыл бұрын
I’m sure cracking a window would help. I used to run my old LOPI with the window cracked. I do have one question, though... now that it’s getting cold out, and my Country Hearth one at my place up north has the same issue: I burn 2-3 loads, and it gasifies the wood, burns all the hydrocarbons out, and then I have a stove full of charcoal. I get how the process works, but in order to get the charcoal to burn semi hot and make room for more wood, I have to crack the door for a bit. I’m burning mostly hard maple and beech, some ash. I have access to all the aspen I can cut, too. Any suggestions?
@drolet8219
@drolet8219 3 жыл бұрын
@@ticat3 Depending on the stove you burn, you could also try to bring the charcoal to the front of the appliance, this works great with EPA Drolet stoves.

From one Drolet owner to another... Welcome to the club... LOL...I have a Drolet 1800i also. Have had it for two heating seasons. And I LOVE IT!!! #1 - turn the blower off when your loading it up. There will be much less smoke in the room. #2 - get an "off set" for the top of your insert. It will set it the liner riser back up to 8" so you can bring the hole insert forward and use the face cover to hide the opening in the old fire place. #3 - clean your blower fan blades every year. Its amazing how much dust accumulates on the fan blades and how much more air flow you will get. Good luck and be safe...
@waltgunchak1647
@waltgunchak1647 4 жыл бұрын
#4 - this insert likes to run hot for best efficiency and a clean chimney liner , 357 - 600 degrees Fahrenheit. Get your self a magnet thermometer for the front of the insert to monitor the temp. when it gets there, damper it down and watch the ghost flames happen with the secondary burner...Way cool...

I’ve found people who don’t have access to dry firewood are selling gasifier stoves and inserts CHEAP and going to gas or propane. I didn’t need a double-wall because my chimney was pristine. I did insulate it, though.
