The level of our DPs are a downgrade to what we’ve had in the past such as Lodeiro, Ruidiaz, Dempsey, Martins, and others. Because of that, we are no longer a top MLS team. And this is due to the recruiting of the Sounders in the past few years. Waibel needs to go and we need a GM that is more ambitious in their recruiting. Rusnak, Morris, and De La Vega will not bring the quality to make this a top MLS team.

I think this is a big get for the sounders. If Jordan or Albert go out for any reason he could fill either role. Or, take over for them if he shows he is up to it.

@@bobbydrex5268bro, you are missing the point. It’s not 14 goals people are upset about, it’s the lack of assist and overall impact that he had all season. He also didn’t score when we needed a DP to step up the most…during the playoffs. If we signed a South American player with these same stats we would all be scratching our heads.

With adding Ferreira to be a second striker/#10 behind him, JMo could reach another level. I do miss the days of seattle swinging for the fences for DP's out of Europe though!

I feel like Ferreira will add something that the Sounders have needed for a while, which is boldness and creative interplay in the final third. Often lately it feels like the Sounders are the 'better team' because they're excellent at playing keep-away in the attacking third, but that final pass or shot on goal is lacking. Too many speculative crosses and lateral passes around the horn that go nowhere. If he can help us push goalward with more intent and intensity, I'll be a very happy fan.

Fair, but we'll at least take a solid step forward from last season in terms of squad depth and offensive production. Ferreira is a great move. I'm pretty optimistic about the season, even if the other moves (internal DP signings) were not great.
