But Doc was the master. Still gives me goosebumps to here him play. I have my vinyls, 40 years old I guess. when he passed away, he left huge footprints to fill. All the younger players stand on his shoulders.

Was curious as well about the scat singer, Estrella Berosini, she looks like a movie star. I think she recorded some tracks with Peter Rowan. Her dad was a highwire circus performer, and Estrella got to be friends with Joni Mitchell and David Crosby. Joni Mitchell wrote a verse about her in a song Ladies of The Canyon- Estrella, circus girl comes wrapped in songs and gypsy shawls Songs like tiny hammers hurled at beveled mirrors in empty halls Empty halls and beveled mirrors, sailing seas and climbing banyans.

In 1971 I was playing electric guitar in a surf music band in Santa Cruz, CA. A few of us drove up to Berkley, CA to see this guy named Doc and life was never the same! Came back threw out the electrics and bought an acoustic guitar and started playing bluegrass and folk. Fond memories!

I love the bit where Bill gives Doug a reach-a-round. Doug Dillard is a very talented musician who gained a lot of fame when his family portrayed the Darilng family on the Andy Griffith show. But the most talented musician on that stage was Billy "Dil Pekel" Constable.

They could really work those mics. Especially Charles, nailing a g-run, then moving over to the vocal mic. Practice makes perfect.
