I’d love to see a Bambu hotend round up. I’ve upgraded to the BTT Panda Revo with ObXidian .4 and .25mm. Would love to hear if the BTT extruder, gears, and fan cover thingies are worth it. Also, not sure if you’ve done it (too many Tubers in my brain), but a detailed stream on tuning filaments would be invaluable. But, if you’re looking for an intern to train for tuning filaments, I’m volunteering.

Excellent video! Sorry for the lengthy comment in advance. I was initially leaning toward the Prusa XL, thinking it would finally meet my needs, but after watching your video, I’m now unsure about whether it’s the right choice for my specific requirements. To give you some context, what I primarily need from a 3D printer isn’t necessarily speed, but precision. I often prototype intricate parts that must fit together with tight tolerances, so accuracy is key. I was initially drawn to the Prusa XL for its build volume, which I thought would be ideal, as my typical print heights range from 2” (50mm) to a maximum of 14” (356mm). While I mostly work with single-color prints, I’m also open to multi-color or multi-material options when needed, like the XL promises. However, the most critical aspect for me is achieving a smooth surface finish akin to SLA prints, but without the associated hassle of maintaining an SLA printer. I’ve heard that the Prusa XL’s slicer now includes the Arachne perimeter generator, which promises improved print quality, and that was something I found promising. Based on your extensive experience with various machines, I’d love to hear your thoughts on which printer would best meet these needs. Specifically, I’m looking for precision, ease of use, and the ability to deliver professional quality prototypes, without the maintenance demands of an SLA system. I trust your judgment and would greatly appreciate any suggestions or guidance on what to consider next in my search. Should I keep waiting or should I take the plunge? Thanks again for all the valuable content you create, it’s been a huge help!

People do not understand that profit does not come out of no where, Prusa is earning it purely from selling printers, Bambu is earning it from the lockdown ecosystem just like Epson and Brothers with their ink cartridges, and the user info which is a highly valuable selected TA group that they can sell to marketing company. Also Prusa is using this profit to fund PrusaSlicer which Bambu just took it for free, and also average Chinese worker's wage is 5000USD per person PER YEAR. Think before you complain, if you don't want 3D printing to become the next lockdown ink cartridge system, you should not support any company that do these kind of things.

So true. Sadly in the big picture, the small number of customers who make a moral-based decision compared to the vast majority of buyers who will make their decision based on value for money, speed, looks, features, KZbin hype… there is no stopping the beast. There is always going to be a place for Prusa, I hope they can continue to survive the thrive. They didn't get to the size they are at by undercharging. That said, I do think one of their core problems has been that their printers require entirely too much manual labour to assemble and looking at the construction of this, I think it fixes that somewhat. That being said, its looking pretty decent otherwise and its good to see that they havent completely fallen asleep. Its awfully close to whatever Bambulabs is releasing next though, so I guess we'll see if it holds up. I will note I think the fact that you can upgrade from the Mk4S to this for a not insane price (unlike some of the previous upgrades), its both pretty insane and novel. Im almost more interested in seeing that upgrade than the printer.

All solid stuff. It is a taller build volume but I also fully get wanting to stick with the same build sheet. They’ve got hundreds of thousands of customers with that bed size. Granted the XL doesn’t even have the option yet. 😬

I have the same opinion I have when people complained about Bambulab panel gaps? Who cares if it hits the temperature you need it to reach? This appears to do that, so i dont mind outside of their marketing misleading people to think it has active heating. If it works, it works, and when it eventually gets negative pressure filtration, the gaps really wont matter.
@trugbilddrachen28 күн бұрын
@ not trying to split hairs, and you are correct, if it heats it heats. I am looking at it from the design perspective and they couldn't do it any better? There are no moving parts unlike the z rod in the back or poop shoot. Could Bambu lab do a better job, sure. However I feel like Prusa who has been making printers for a long time could have done way better. Watching the videos and seeing all the light shining through the gaps was cringe worthy. Even look at top corners where the sheet metal is bent, even Bambu is not that bad. How much longer does the chamber heater have to run to keep that temp, esp is rooms that are colder? Then times that per job. Just seems they could have done better. Other than that is a nice looking printer.

Question for you: since you have taken your Q1 Pro apart some, what do you think about relocating the rocker switch for the power on-off around to the front side on the sloped underside under the door? It seems like the perfect place for it from a user standpoint. Wondering if it is safe from mechanical or heating interference and if there is enough wire to relocate it.

Do you work with 3d printers or was this comment just written by a confused AI? This wasn’t a review. “No USB-PD” We said it could be done… “No IP rating” Why in the world would that be needed? No material is going to be happy printing in the rain and dirt. We explained that the glass IS HEATED. It is a unique see through resistive heater system. “Tons of moving parts” have you ever seen a core-XY 3d printer? The only additional parts beyond a typical one is the pivot for the Z axis to fold down. “Sensorless homing” is pretty universally understood to be X & Y homing only. Z Axis homing always uses some form of probing mechanism and/or endstop switch. There isn’t a 3d printer available with sensorless z homing. “Why a RP2040?” Because it runs Klipper firmware fast and well. It is ALSO an open source architecture… “Esp32” Ok, you could have started with that and I’d have known you had no idea what you are talking about. Absolutely ZERO 3d printers run ESP32s except for Wi-Fi connectivity. That’s it. “Home assistant” You can always integrate a Klipper powered 3d printer with home assistant. You don’t need an ESP32 for that. This was a wild ride of a comment. Thanks for giving me a chuckle as I read it over a few times trying to make any sense of it.
