Amazing what 'Science' has done to invent this 3D - I once road in a CAR made by 3D imprinting @ the Detroit Auto Show (Y) I'm guessing the auto companies had a lot to do with THIS also; since GM & Dr. Forrest Dodrill MD of Harper Hosp.designed & invented the very FIRST Heart Lung pump for cardiac surgery in 1952 and it IS still on display in Harper Hosp. Lobby and LOOKS just like a car engine - complete with a 'piston'. WOW My mother & cousin were one of the firsts to use in in their surgeries in 1954. 9-10-24

What happens to the air trapped inside the artery???? Wont it lead to embolism???? When the blood flow is released??
@myrmykyta47943 жыл бұрын
it will, so the surgeon makes several punctures in the artery or in the right atrium idr
@themohyaser2 жыл бұрын
*There is usually air inside the anastomosis, but this doesn't usually cause any problems for several reasons* : 1- Usually the amount of air is not large enough to cause air embolism. 2- In most anastomoses, the distal end of the anastomosis is released first to test the patency of the anastomosis at a low pressure, and then the blood at the site of the anastomosis displaces air from the seams of the stitch line, and then the proximal end is released to test the anastomosis under pressure. 3- the anastomosis is not air-tight until fibrin is deposited on the stitch line, and by that time, blood from the circulation would have displaced any remnant air.

I did this small procedure here in Canada, I felt Ok after 2 days, I started moving my finger normally. BUT, it is a temporary solution, because after 7 months I gradually started to feel that the trigger finer is coming back (for the same finger). Now, I have the same issue, and I think I need to re-do it again.

As a frequent flyer in the hospital, I love this gown but I am also a cardiac patient. I have to wear a cardiac monitor at all times. Most gowns have a big pocket on the front with a hole that feeds the leads through. Add that to this gown and you have an absolute winner!!!!

Dr. Draxler, I hope you showed how to sew the posterior wall first (from the inside of the vessel) going to the anterior wall, instead of flipping your graft model. By doing the flipping, it is not any more representative of an actual suturing.
@siradolf5 жыл бұрын
i thought the same, it would have been better if they showed that is preferable to suture the posterior wall first, in real life we cant flip the graft.
@k.pacificnw021344 жыл бұрын
@@siradolf . . . . . How come the stitching doesn't weaken the vessels? Essentially make them "perforated" for easy tearing? And how come blood doesn't leak out of the area at the join? Do vessels heal that quickly? Won't clots form there? Are the clots small enough to not cause embolisms? I have more questions than answers! Why didn't I go to medical school?! : )
