I have a question about Checkerboard Cables on page 314. “ (multiple of 16 sts; 16-row repeat) ROW 1 (RS): *P8, k8; repeat from * to end. ROWS 2-6: Repeat Row 1. ROW 7: *P8, C8F. ROW 8: Repeat Row 1.” If you’re doing a blanket do you have to have a dozen cable needles and knit them on the next round? One way I tried it left a long thread running behind stitches and another way I tried it twisted too much Is there a tutorial for that pattern?

If there is a tutorial, it would likely be from the author. Her website is knit and tonic.net. (No spaces)

Thank you! Not doing this is like painting without preparation, one only gets in a mess - experience talking. 😊

Back again after about 2 years just to say that I continue to enjoy double knitting, thanks to your excellent 3 video tutorials. Yesterday I returned to a double-knit wall hanging that had been hibernating for awhile. It took a hour or so to get my head back in the right place for this mind-bending technique that requires careful concentration. I'm back in the groove and having fun again. I'm in my 70s and can see how double-knitting is an excellent mental exercise for keeping the mind sharp, with all the details you have to keep track of between reading the chart and working the stitches in proper order. After a session of double-knitting I feel like the cobwebs are out of the attic. It's great occupational therapy. I couldn't have accomplished this without your excellent videos, Planet Purl.

On the first one, you looped the yarn around the needle twice, but only did it once on the next one. Is there a specific reason for that?

I watched several other videos on this topic, and none of them made sense to me. Some of them took 3 minutes or more before they even started to demonstrate the technique. They were so talky and dragged out, one of the people even stopped to painstakingly define what counterclockwise means. Really lol? And then their demonstrations were confusing no matter how many times I watched them. You got to the point, explained the important parts, and showed things clearly. Great video. I can backwards knit now because of you, and it only took one viewing of your video.

I really can’t see what you’re doing, too quick! Plus the under/over really doesn’t seem to go with what you’re actually doing. I wish you would simply do it very slowly and not comment because it’s distracting.
