Comments section loses common sense, what happens to metal when it got hot, think getting in a hot car it’s UNBEARABLE, that’s why their arms are exposed ventilation as well as metal restricts movement. 2 things that greatly increase the chance of you loosing, overheating and collapsing and not being able to fight/move freely. That’s why they carry shields to protect exposed parts,

@andthe401022 сағат бұрын
The lack of armor on the thighs is absolutely insane. i realize that the shield is supposed to cover that, but I bet 80% of deaths on the battlefield for those guys were because of thigh cuts
@LeonidasSparta-Fun-History14 сағат бұрын
I doubt it, because they evolved away from them. We see them in the archaic era, and fade out of use coming into the classical. If thigh cuts were such a problem, I doubt they would have dropped the armour.

@@shawntame45 didnt exist in this era, nor is it really needed. Greek armour is designed to be very close fitting, and the chiton is quite a full garment which fills out the cuirass

@@LeonidasSparta-Fun-History I was under the impression from my education a Chiton was every day wear. under armor they would use a Subarmalis. and thats just a gambeson. could be wrong i guess, not a history major. just took it to fill a time slot.

@shawntame45 the subermalis is a Roman garment, used a couple hundred years after. The chiton was the standard garment, but was worn under armour as well.
