Hi Delboy hope you and your mum are OK and keeping warm, it's really been parky this week. At last I can report something positive about the boiler saga, next Friday they are coming with the part they have ordered to repair it. I'm relieved that there's an end in sight, even though I've got another week trying to keep warm. I feel better in my mind now knowing it will be sorted out. I just don't like uncertainty and just want to get back to normal. Enjoyed as usual our weekly Live chat, and I picked up a great tip about Cornbeef and putting the tin in the fridge. It works and was able to enjoy my cornbeef in nicely cut slices. I get such a lot of enjoyment from our live chat and there's a lot of laughter involved too. Always a highlight of my week now. As usual watched a lot of films, Conclave (2024) with Ralph Fiennes and John Lithgow was outstanding, showing all the political intrigue, secrets and lies in choosing a new Pope. I love these religious dramas, I suspect they are not far from the truth about what really goes on. I also reviewed The L Shaped Room (1962), a British film part of the Kitchen Sink Dramas of that era, just before the swinging sixties. In terms of British Films Industry they like the French New Wave represented a move away from Hollywood influences to social realism and toleration of minorities and outsiders. My question this week is what are your favourite films that have dealt with social issues in a powerful way? I know it might be difficult, but let's see what you can come up with! Ha Ha I can hear you calling me a bastard. Here is a little help think of Dickens or a film like To Kill A Mockingbird. All my best wishes and have a reet grand time.

Hi Del, thanks for another outstanding blog. As always, sending my best wishes to both you and your mum and here's to great 2025! My news year's resolution is the same as most previous, as in I have none. I keep telling myself I'll eat more salad or choose healthier alternatives to sweets and chocolates, and to be fair I give it a bloody good attempt but before you know it, I'm back to my creature comforts and it's probably the same for most folk, unless you're a diet freak which I'm not 😂🤣 I'm on the same boat as Colin regarding KZbin shorts, TikTok and those of that ilk. Nothing gets on my tits more than those dance videos just because it's popular and people are thirsty for views, with the same boring robotic dance moves to what I can only be described as the most generic and unoriginal music out there. Whatever happened to originality and being yourself? Rant out the way, here are a bunch questions: 1. Do you notice a pattern with KZbin or is it just me? Whenever I upload a video I lose a sub, yet gain 1 or 2 when I don't, is it the same for you? 2. What grammar mistake do you always see which bugs you the most? 3 example that are screaming out to me is when people put could/should "of" instead of could/should "have". Another one is where quite a few people, not everyone, who can't differentiate "your" from you're", and the last one which is "there", "they're" and "their". I'm probably nit-picking but I honestly can't help myself sometimes lol 3. Did or have you seen any of the sitcoms that Michael J. Fox was in, such as Family Ties which I've never watched, and Spin City where he works as Deputy Mayor set in New York?

Sending my best wishes to your mum and hope she's doing well right now! Regarding New Year, I've been avoiding all reflection videos and podcasts. No looking back (which may seem odd given our hobby) only looking forward. It was a back to work day for me so nothing special or much different from any other day. I am quite positive about my personal future even though the world situation is looking less so! KZbin Shorts can do one for me. Same with Faecebook/Instagram Reels, TikTok or any other uncontrollable vertical video format 😂 I saw the original BBC series of Quatermas and the Pit fairly recently. The story line has aged pretty well because, apart from the origin planet, it would still fit with today's times, even down to the technology involved. If you do ask a question on my vlog I will answer 😁 Yes, TRON: Ares! 10th October... I'll probably go to the cinema for that! My question: I know emulation, whether it's software or hardware emulation, is great these days and does the job for the vast majority of classic systems but is there a system that you wished you had from the 1980s/1990s and would get if a good opportunity arose? I have one I'd definitely get and one I'd seriously consider but I'll state these after your answer so I don't sway you at all.

Happy New Year! I have similar feelings on Doctor Who. I've been a fan most of my life but finally gave up during the Whittaker era. I thought she was fine but the stories were dire! If people like the newer stuff then that's great. I wouldn't want to take that away from them. I now just stick to watching the classic era stuff. It might have wobbly effects but has much better writing and acting.

Great as always Del to listen along except I was one of the videos that did the 68 movies I have watched this year lol, well seen it didn't get a mention (I am away to cry in a corner, just kidding). My number one movie (Spoiler alert) was a movie called White Bird which is well worth a watch in relation to Nazi occupation etc. It is great to see you having a more positive outlook for the year ahead. There is discussion about an Arcade Club meetup and maybe something you can possibly make it along to, not looking for an answer as everyone circumstances are different. I am not sure if I can make it fully yet but definitely will try. I have picked up a number of DVDs and BluRays this week through CEX and charity shops further to watching your stuff and other person's in the more collector community. I bought my first 4k disc which was Universal Soldier, not sure if it is a good one but I love that movie mainly due to the how excited I was to watch it back when it was first released. Question for next time, I am likely to be out and about looking in Charity shops, mainly to grab movies I want, but is there any movie DVD or otherwise that I should keep an eye out for, maybe one or two. I am unlikely to find them as I'm sure there are many collectors who swoop in and buy then sell at CEX or keep for their own collections. Anyway hope you have a good week ahead, I start back at work tomorrow the 6th Jan but that is ok I've had a very decent Christmas and New Year period so take the wins when we get them. Cheers.

Placeholder for notes. Hello mate, So, I'm on three weeks of Nightshifts again. Not the best way to start off 2025 but I'm determined to get some videos out. You mentioned about the queue to get your meat for Christmas at the butchers, my folks had the same issue. An hour and half they waited, the queue was halfway down the road to collect the turkey and other joints for the festive season. New year's eve was a very quiet night for us, my nephew had caught the Norovirus so my sister could only stop an hour. I think I was in bed by ten o'clock, the fireworks only lasted about half hour into the new year. The festive season seems to die a little bit every year, this year was awful, no special feeling at all. The Christmas schedule was tripe, not one thing I wanted to see. I long to see the return to one off specials like Walking with dinosaurs, one year they followed that with The lost world staring Bob Hopkins. Didn't know about Prime Gaming, thx for that. I'll check it out sometime. Update on Flash Gordon as I forgot to add about the picture quality. The picture in 4K popped absolutely beautifully, Dolby Vision brought out the best of 35 millimetre film stock. This backed up with a DTS 2.0 or 5.1 soundtrack. I liked the fact that grain was still present in the picture. No overdone DNR here. Galaxy Quest next and a report on that soon. So question for this week. I've picked up the US Life on Mars series to go with my UK set. Both followed the same format of going back to the seventies but the ending was totally different for each production. Can you think of any other TV series that did this? As always pass on my best wishes to your mother and we'll speak very soon.

So my apologies for such a short comment but I wanted to make some comment at least and I will throw one question at you. What black and white uk tv series do you feel is underrated and we should all watch it? all the best and love to your mum.

Hi Delboy hope you and your Mum are ok and keeping warm because its proper parky. Still not got the boiler fixed, the part hasnt arrived. This week has been awful for me mentally, on New Years Eve waiting like I've done for the workmen for the nurse to come and change my dressings. I rang them up and they said someone would definitely come, but of course they didn't. Im really sick to death of all this. Today a nurse I know well came and she was appalled by it all. She could see my call had been logged, there was no excuse. She was going to take what had happened up with the managers. I appreciated that, I've known her for a few years. I think though that Ive learnt that its no good for me to get into such a state by all this. I was very happy to have our Live Chat on Wednesday, really cheered me up. Had a great time, who would have though we would discuss Cornbeef and Baked Beans! The only thing i actually watched on live tv was Wallace and Gromit, which was excellent. I did eventually watch Doctor Who, it was as bad as expected, no longer Doctor Who. I use to look forward to the Christmas special. How ever i did watch a lot of films, 2 were my favourites of the year Immaculate and Strange Darling. Ive enjoyed the Dune Prophecy series you have sent me. Today also watched The Duchess which you sent, a brilliant historical drama of the 18th Century, i could talk a lot about the background to it. However i will spare you the long lecture. I didn't review any music this week on the channel, but i was still listening it. Loved Marillion's Seasons End (1997) Steve Hogarth's vocal debut post Fish. I think he's amazing, does a great job. So my question of the week is, the apocalypse has arrived, inside the shelter you can take lots of cans to live on but it can only be one food type, what would it be? All my best wishes and have a reet grand time.👍

Hi Delboy, great to hear you both had a nice Christmas day. We had our Christmas dinner at the pub on Christmas eve instead this year. Think we'll do that again next year as its much cheaper and the atmosphere was great. We were busy packing our bags on Christmas Day for flying to Madeira on Boxing day so wasn't really the same, especially without Hadley being here. I never knew about games available on Prime. Will have to have a look on that, thanks for the info. One for the new year, can you play the game Exolon? I remember It being a groundbreaking game for the graphics on the spectrum back in the day.

TV is awful these days full stop! I watch very little of it. I did watch Doctor Who, which was ok (nothing special) but Wallace & Gromit was, for me, the highlight of the whole season's TV. Really glad to hear you and your mother had a nice Christmas. Sending her my best wishes 🙂 I stayed in all of Christmas and Boxing Days. It was lovely! I think Argos is all online now for ordering with some click and collect in selected Sainsbury's stores. It's working for them though because they're still going quite well. Loved every bit of deliberation from my comment! Yes, the oscilloscope music video was me 😁 Happy New Year again my friend! My question: as we head into the new year, are there any upcoming releases expected in 2025 that you're looking forward to? This could be games, movies, even statues. Anything you want to get that is already near the top of your wish list.

Great as always to listen along Del. You mention in this video about attributes of people and what I would say is that there are attributes of yourself and many others which are much more valuable than the surface level stuff (this includes me as a baldy bas). You have introduced me to a lot of content that I would have missed, Ian Hill the Ramblings being a massive highlight of 2024 for me and probably the channel I watch as much as I watch your stuff, especially the Wednesday Waffle you guys do. The attribute of bringing people together or making people think with strong opinions is a gift in my opinion. On that note thankyou for those introductions. I'm really pleased you enjoyed The Holdover's (I know its getting mentioned again). I had a movie day this week as my wife was working and I got access to the TV all by myself. I ended up watching Elevation which is a standard fair movie but was enjoyable about a monsters attack on the world and people can only live about 8000ft. That means that the entirety of the UK are gone. I watched Andor and then Rogue 1. I also watched The Dead Don't Die which is a Bill Murray movie and quite a big cast, a black comedy and modern take on Dawn of the Dead / Night of the Living Dead. It gets terrible reviews but is really a decent movie in my opinion and I did laugh out loud a fair bit. There are parts which are a bit disjointed but they sort of made the humour work. Anyway thats been my week. I hope you and your mum are well and Happy New Year when you read this in your Blog next Sunday. Question for next time: You mention in this video about your gaming controller, what is the best controller you have for playing arcade games on MAME if this is something you often do? I love Robotron but the sticks on my homemade arcade machine are not the best, maybe I will upgrade them this year. I was thinking about a tankstick as I would like a (my mind has drawn a blank on the name) rolling ball controller for Missle Command. Anyway all the best as I said.

I agree with this. In Edinburgh corporate greed has played a big part too. What used to be local events that welcomed visitors are now internationally advertised soulless events with eye-watering ticket prices, run by commercial partners of the council. And when they can't make a hefty profit, they just abandon the event they hijacked. Sad state of affairs I'm afraid.

Hi Del. Thanks for another excellent vlog. Enjoyed listening to this while wrapping presents. Hope you and your mum had a good Christmas. I might be weird but the second Christmas day is over I no longer feel remotely festive and just want to get back to normal (but am pleased to be off work i guess). QUESTION (please, if you don't mind and haven't been asked before)... This one is inspired by having to use up the remaining sprouts. Can you (or your viewers) recall any memorable occasions when you or someone you know have accidentally or intentionally broken wind?? I remember our French teacher once accidentally let one rip whilst writing on the blackboard, much to our amusement. Feel free to ignore if this question is too immature for such a high-brow channel. Take care and all the best.

Placeholder for comments Hello my friend and happy new year to you and your mother. Firstly I'd like to add I didn't open my present from you until Christmas day as requested lol, and thank you so much for your wonderful gift. You looked like you enjoyed yourself opening presents from your friends, next year I'll have to wrap them in Christmas paper. Makes it more official lol. Thank you to both you and Ian for the Christmas humbug extravaganza, what a brilliant night. Thanks to everyone that joined in with their comments. Everyone made it special. So Christmas has come and gone again as we head to the new year, can't help feeling that every festive season a little bit of it is diluted and becomes less magical. Though the high streets looked busy you can tell retail is definitely going to post terrible results in revenue I just hope it doesn't mean people will lose their jobs. Walsall town centre is totally decimated with so many shops which have been boarded up. One indoor arcade area where Debenhams used to be has zero shops open. Rumour has it the council are down on shopping and more on community hub areas within town centres. Total lunacy! Less said about the Christmas markets the better, same old stuff year in year out. Watered down beer costing £8 a time, sausages and wooden toys. How interesting, not. Definitely seen foot fall drop off big time. Then I'm hearing Rachel Reeves is taking 45p from every pound from charities, not 100% confirmed but they're ok with freezing pensioners it wouldn't surprise me. Finally got around to watching Flash Gordon you got me from HMV from your visit to Birmingham with Jimjam. Me and my old man really enjoyed it. Loved your trailers this week, It's a wonderful life has been in the news. One of the big streamers now confirmed as Prime cut a very important section from the film, though it may be down to copyright. This and Dr Who, what next. Moral of the story, buy physical media. The Holdovers is on Sky Cinema, thanks a million will definitely watch this festive film. Maybe one to add to my collection if it's as good as it looks. Question for this week. If there's one thing you could change about the film and retro games community what would it be? Signing off wishing everyone the best for the new year.

Great to listen along, again I really should type a comment when I listen as I forget stuff. Thanks for answering my weird question though as I did Lol at your answer. Holdovers is probably in my top ten movies now and we watched it as a family the other night, my kids really enjoyed it too. Anyway hope you had a lovely Christmas I'm away to watch the rest of your 5 hour stream that you did with Denny and Ian. I got some sad news about a guy from work who had retired from work a few years ago, I worked with him for about 7 or 8 years. Anyway the reason for saying that is to put a positive spin on it, this guy didn't have many outlets or hobbies and he was fairly young. I think KZbin has that positive influence on people, it does for me and I feel like I have people I could talk to if needed. I feel it does the same for a lot of creators and just wondered your thoughts on this? There are other things other than youtube though, local to me there is a Mens Shed club which is designed for anyone including ladies to go and usually learn some hands on skills etc. Or in Alan's case that once a month computer club probably has that positive effect on giving people a bit of social interaction. Anyway hope you and your mum are doing good and all the best for the New Year ahead.

Yeah, in Mayday there are basically 3 types of enemy: drones (which respawn when you lose a life), normals (various types with different attacks that have to be cleared to go to the next level) and hurry up ships. Clear all normals and you clear the level when you die provided you have lives left. You made me have a go on Chuckie Egg on Spectrum and I'm out of practice 😉

Hi Del, dropping the comment now as I might forget once I get into christmas and full myself to bursting with pop, crisps and chocolate. Great blog as always, I know i've said it before but it's true, your blog is the highlight of my Sundays, I really look forward to it but hey, no pressure. if you're not up to it sometimes then we'll understand, your heath is more important. I'm glad that your return to work has gone okay, I know that you were worried about that. £85 for aftershave crikey!! I'm glad I don't shave. (I have a beard and hate it, but the wife likes it so it stays!) Now mate i'm going to show my ignorance now but i'm curious, why a cockerel? does it taste different than the usual hen? I really hope you try and have a nice christmas this year, I know it's not going to be easy for you but I hope you do. Now the questions:- Question 1 - How do you approach the new year? on new years eve, do you look forward to a coming year or dread it? I personally dread it and fear what might come this time around, I can't help it, it's just the way I think. Question 2 - from your really enjoyable gaming series, which of our games did you love the most and which did you hate the most? (btw on a seperate topic: Christmas wrapping paper.. I bought a roll and its shit!! it's that plastic film covered crap and you can't rip or tear it. The ONLY correct way to open christmas presents is to rip or tear the paper off. bollocks to this film covered shit!) okay moan over. I wish you and your mum an EXCEPTIONAL Christmas and I hope you both have a time to remember. All the best mate!
