My old chemistry professor once told me a story about how he ran an albino red dragon for his players. He dropped hints and clues about fields burning and sulfur smells and the like but his players saw a white dragon and ran with it… suffice to say they showed up with all the wrong magic items and potions but had a rivoting fight! I'm planning on doing the same for my players soon but since dragon’s are hyper intelligent, I'm thinking a smart dragon would use the color difference to its advantage, having its minions spread rumors about it using ice breath and being weak to fire. Great video btw! I doubt you’ll see this comment since its 4 years old but thanks for all the great DnD content!

Bit late to the party, but "Viking" shields didn't use metal banding for the edges, might see some stuff for the face along with the metal "boss", but not the edges. Would interfere with the blade trapping action of their shields, they used a linen or rawhide for a facing on the shield that would reinforce it and keep it together even when there are many cuts in it. Some would even have an extra layer applied from the back, the glue they used also impregnated the linen or other materials, serving to harden it too. Hope you have been well Bill and keepin' safe. ~ Cheers 🍻

Thanks! I actually am still kind of learning C&C. It's a pretty easy system, but I don't have the whole SIEGE system down perfectly.
@AdamK109516 күн бұрын
@@BillAllanWorld No prob. Steven, Mack, and Davis still argue over it themselves on their twitch. ;) I believe you have p10 and if so look at pg. 235, Adding Character Levels to Checks. No matter Prime or Secondary, you still add level to an action if it's a 'class' thing. Also, tell those melee's to 'CHARGE!' (pg. 242)
@garathekd21 күн бұрын
I am a little late to the party but I find this very interesting to look back on. My main take away from watching his videos was that his group was trying to optimize but didn't really understand the system. His ranger comparison in the second video really showed that he didn't understand a lot of the rules and showed a bias towards the system he was more familiar with. His PF2 ranger was missing ability score boosts, was ignoring class features and the "obvious" feat picks would not of been what I would of picked for the character he described. At level 5 it is super easy to have two ability scores give a +4 bonus. I'm curious to know what stats he dumped str for and why he chose to only show the str combat skill actions. Even the hunter's edge he picked didn't seem to fit the play style he was going for...I probably would of picked Monster Hunter over hunted shot at 1, hunter's aim at 2 and gone in several different ways at for based on the party.

In 3e, they were 1d6 Piercing with an 18-20 crit range, which I think is a better representation.

I would accept that option, with the caveat that the crit range is only against opponents in light armor.

What if you didn't quit your day job The rapier cost 15 more gold than a short sword That's why it does 1D8 The stupidity of making a weapon cost more then making it do the same damage as something that cost less is crazy and only a dude who doesn't do game designing would think that is a good idea
@BillAllanWorldАй бұрын
I think that the cost difference is the LEAST important factor here, my friend. The significance of rapiers in 5e is that they do 1d8 whether you are attacking someone wearing clothing or someone wearing heavy armor. The point is that they shouldn't do 1d8 at all...OR, if you at least make them do 1d8 versus no armor or light armor and only 1d6 medium armor and heavy armor, at least that would make sense. How's that for game design? Also, I actually do game design, and my game system and mechanics blows D&D out of the water. And yes, I've playtested my games with dozens of people in person and online for many years, so this isn't just my opinion. Nuff said.
@PowerTGodАй бұрын
@@BillAllanWorld The fact of the matter is you like imagination D&D is not based on the real world my boy dragons goals and vampires and zombies and wizards don't exist my boy It is imagination there were creatures built in with this resistances to the same damage you're saying but saying it shouldn't do The same damage as a long sword is ridiculous because they're basically the same damn thing they're both as effective as the person wielding them and they both are fucking garbage versus armor
@PowerTGodАй бұрын
@@BillAllanWorld simply put the rapier is only good for dex characters while the long sword is for strength characters and they are both the same damn weapon One is not better then the other nor good against armor opponents your not stabbed or slicing through heavy armor and you could just say heavy armor's in my world have resistances to slashing and piercing to fix the issue but to hamper one style of play cause you have a bias is not only bad game design but just lack of imagination
