My left butt hurts. Im in so much pain while walking or sitting, trying to get up from bed etc. 29 weeks now. Want to ask abt the piriformis stretch. Do I have to fold my right leg and bend toward the right? ( my pain is in the left butt only)
@BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPTКүн бұрын
If your pain is on the left side, you will want to stretch the left, so folding the left leg and bending toward the left.

Can we sleep on back in 22 week
@BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPTКүн бұрын
Hello, please talk to your provider as everyone is different. As mentioned in the video, if you do not have symptoms while sleeping on your back (dizziness, light headed, nausea, feeling unwell), it is normally fine. New studies suggest that after 28 weeks it would be preferable to sleep on your side, or elevate yourself with pillows if you want to sleep on your back. But check with your provider :)

Hi Sophie! In my second trimester. I do yoga and the instructor is having me contract the pelvic floor/lifting the pelvic floor on the inhale. And releasing on the exhale. I find contradictory information online and it is super confusing. Does it make a difference?
@BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT16 күн бұрын
@@despinababi2318 I know it can be confusing as some yoga / Pilates teachers teach different methods. The rationale for contracting on the exhale is to follow the natural relationship between the diaphragm and the pelvic floor at rest. When we exhale, the diaphragm goes up and so does the pelvic floor. When we inhale, the diaphragm goes down and the pelvic floor follows. So by contracting on the exhale and releasing on the inhale, we are simply following that natural mechanic if that makes sense. For many of my clients, we were able to achieve a much better contraction and release by doing it that way, making their practice more efficient. However I always say if it is counter intuitive to you and you’ve been doing it the other way for years, it may not be necessary to change the way you do things if it works for you. I would recommend getting assessed by a pelvic floor PT to check if your activation and release is efficient with your technique and go from there. By testing both ways, they will tell you what’s best moving forward and if it’s worth investing energy into changing your technique. Hope this helps!

@BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for your comment, indeed the triceps are the ones that are recruited to generate the strength to apply the pressure, however I just meant that the biceps are the ones in contact with the hip bones, just so people understand which part of their arms should be pressing against the bones if that makes sense.

Hi Sophie, can we do the squat (3rd exercise) if we experience pelvic girdle pain? Thanks for your clarifications!
@BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT2 ай бұрын
This is something that is difficult for me to answer since I have not assessed you and pelvic girdle pain can be multi factorial so I would refer to your provider for this. However as a general rule of thumb, if there is no increase in pain during or after the exercise, it should generally be okay to do, but I would still check with a professional who has assessed you first.

Hi i am 5 month pregnant and suffering from this pain. Turning on bed exaggerates my pain.Can i do these exercises?
@BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT2 ай бұрын
Yes absolutely. Highly recommend to turn in bed using a "log roll" strategy (shoulders and hips are all moving at the same time and aligned with each other - rather than having your hips leading and shoulders following), and also have something in between your legs while you roll to keep your legs parallel (ex: thick pillow - not a thin one!).

Achieving 10cm diameter with Epi-NO totally avoids the need for episiotomy, the promise is in the title and the maximal opening in the bony pelvis is 10cm, so no need to do an episiotomy. You can stretch the magical baby opening twice a day, so never too late to start in pregnancy.
@BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT2 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your insights. I believe women should listen to their body and do what feels good for them.
@drzenkobilas77702 ай бұрын
Maximal opening for baby of 10cm should be the goal, surely. With the next baby please achieve 10cm diameter to confirm whether tearing can be totally be avoided. I think tearing can be avoided. Please. The rare exception if baby comes out of mum's tummy with hand on face and the elbow than causes the tear. But this is rare. Dr Welheim Horkell inventor of Epi-NO talks about 10cm the constant - maximal opening for baby in the pelvic outlet of the bony pelvis. Thank you.
@BeyondBirthingPelvicFloorPT2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your insight. I still believe that women should listen to their body while using the Epi-no and not push themselves to go too far if it feels like it is too much, as trying to push to 10 cm against body signs & physical tolerance may cause injuries and this is not the goal.
