Nice clean setup Justin! I've been running my 50W radios the same way for years as a truck driver. Park the big rig and take my radio home in my pickup using the 12v socket and Velcro Kydex plate mount. Only advice i can give you, is get a Wilson 1000 magnet mount antenna on the roof. You'll get out farther and receive better. You're antenna works for sure, but trust me. My SWR is 1.0 on all channels!😎👍

Cmon dawg, put a real exhaust on it. You’ll get actual performance, people won’t hate you, and it won’t sound clapped out. Plus that sh*t is terrible on an engine that’s 12 years old. I had to replace the 5.7 in my 2012. Nice truck though
@themrgardner4 ай бұрын
Had the exhaust like this on my truck for 4.5 years or something like that and the stock tune and no issues . Ain’t worried about performance because I plan to build the motor one day and whatnot but I like the way it sounds but to each their own though! 🍻

You clearly do not understand the proper way to mount an antenna. The base of the antenna needs to be above the metal side on the toolbox- or much closer to the top! It would be best mounted to the side of the cab on the truck and fairly close to the top of the vehicle. If you look at old photos from the 60s and 70s of police cars you will find these quarter wave low band antennas mounted on the side of a vehicle or on the top of a trunk cowling.
@themrgardner4 ай бұрын
I’d prefer not to drill a hole in my truck. Also being on the side of the tool box can be an inconvenience when trying to access tools.
@justinruth972910 ай бұрын
This is the absolute wrong way to do a 102 inch whip... absolutely wrong !!! ,u never want to mount the 102 in this location ..u want the base of the antenna to be above the cab ..yes it's tuff to achieve ... Putting the 102 on the bumper is not good idea .. there best performance is above the counter poise or the vehicle the flat plane of the metal With that being said it's hard to do and not always possible ..but your blocking the ability for the antenna to have a proper deflection point ...

Have you considered painting the top of the gunnels, or the rub rail? You could put on some darker color and it would highlight the shear-line. Nice job…looks great!

When I went to welding school they just showed me how to weld plate and pipe. The only tools I really bring was a grinder, tape measure, soapstone, outlaw leather hood with an BD auto trueview lens, file, wire brush, hacksaw blade, flashlight, gloves, apron, arm sleeves, blower, square, cresent wrenches and pliers. All that fits in my 5 gallon bucket besides the blower of course. I been welding for years and my dad told me I need a truck and a tool box but I never really understood why if everything fits in my bucket. I many weld in shops though. I came to this video to see what I'm missing.
