You have to pretty much be on drugs to enjoy somebody noodling on their intrument while on drugs.

In the 70s players like Jaco and Pat Metheny gave jazz the shot in the arm it needed. Until then it was known as "your dad's music, from when he was swallowing live goldfish". The only downside was that the new fans were teenagers like the ones you hear in the background.

What spirits did Jaco offend to have him killed? Weather Report was on another level. So beautiful.

Caught W R in 78 at Hammersmith Odeon and they were great . Jaco unfortunately came over as a rather pretentious git as witnessed here

Why is the bass player in the drummer naked with no shirts on

I know. Very off-putting and simply highlighted their lack of talent.

jazz is like a big fat guy stuffing a burger, fries, and a shake into a blender, and then pouring the resulting slop into a cup and serving it to you. It's just an amorphous, flavorless blob lacking any distinct character or charm. Revolting.

I don't get it. The notes were in tune on a fretless. Okay, that's impressive given all of the notes played. But, otherwise, what else? It sounded like a drunk guy just plucking around on a really buzzy bass with no musical direction. I still don't understand the massive love for this guy.

What a tremendous talent. His skill is undeniable. The bass does not lend itself to melody and harmony yet he excelled in these as well with remarkable skill.
