Thanks for sharing! ❤ I made one using an unused wheelie bin. Has worked out amazing with quality organic compost. My review is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZ7QqWt3jZeJn9E - hopefully it’ll be useful to someone 🙏

I have same tumbler and do love it but I am beginner and would love to know how best to store it when done? Is it better in a closed bucket or left open as you have on this video?

I have this tumbler, it works great! I’ve used a hole in the ground for years. Just throw the proper materials in it, and it works. I use post hole diggers a few times a year to mix it up, and the hole method works just fine. I get a really nice wheelbarrow full at planting time.

Can't hear what you saying, the music background is too loud and making me nuts!!!

Thanks you so much for the video. Like others have mentioned, please lower music volume or best to not add any music at all :).

I have this tumbler and it is a pain in the ass to empty! The opening is far too small and it doesn’t always like to be where you want it depending on the weight of the other side.

I looked through four or five videos before finding one that actually showed the finished product! Thank you, this is helpful!

Shouldn't add worms to tumbler. They die all hot days as there's no escape route. I don't like this aspect.

“let gravity do most of the work…”. I don’t think gravity did any of the work! This is my exact problem! I have this model and the door is in the way when it is slid halfway open. Or, if you spin it so that the opening is pointing straight down and then try to slide the door open, the weight of the compost makes it difficult to slide.

This was one of the best reviews on a product like this I have ever seen. I learned all I need to know in just a few minutes. Thanks

Great video. I would recommend lowering music volume or not using music at all so the audio is clear. It was difficult to understand at times. Thanks!

The instructions say to turn it upside down BEFORE you open the door. The door will fit between the legs, hold the tumbler in place, and allow more to dump out with gravity. Then you won’t have to do so much raking.

You're lucky you got using & emptying instructions with yours. None came with mine - just pictures of how to assemble it. Thanks for your input. I was wondering how to empty mine when it was ready.

@@tennesseenana4838 I did a lot of research and found emptying instructions on their website, but there was a diagram on the assembly instructions that came with also.

Of course that type of standing bin is difficult to turn! It’s designed to not need turning.

A Con is how hard it is to remove the finished compost. I know, I have this one.

Adding worms to any Hot Compost is a death sentence for the worms. Always add a handful of Garden Soil or finished Compost because it’s full of Microbes and acts as a Starter. Cheers.

You can buy worms locally at any bait and tackle shop. Or anywhere tgat sells sporting goods for that matter. Also most gas stations near a body of water will sell worms.

Thanks for keeping this short, simple and informative. Will it break down even without the added worms? And does it move to the other side as you turn it and it breaks down?

When you empty the bin, do the worms go with it? If i compost my stuff and give it to my dad for his garden, do i give him everything, including the worms? Then do i buy new worms?
@compostingcorner18183 жыл бұрын
Yes, many of the worms go with the compost harvested. When emptying one side, I try to search through the harvested compost to find any worms and bugs and then move them into the other side so that they can continue their good work.

I thought you couldn’t use worms with these types of composters!! I guess you can and that’s a good thing!
@MarcusRefusius3 жыл бұрын
If you do it correctly it’ll get WAY too hot for Worms to survive. The whole idea is to get it hot. That kills pathogens and weed seeds.
@Shelby28803 жыл бұрын
I’ve never been able to achieve a hot pile, and get a lot of worms in mine. You’re right, if you have a hot pile, it will kill any bugs or worms. The compost will be completed much faster with a hot pile, but I’ve made some really good compost with cold piles. It just takes a long time, but I do have the benefit of lots of worms usually. Especially if you put some dirt in the mix when you start. There are usually lots of worm eggs in your native soil.
