I am so glad I found your channel. Thank you so much for uploading these videos. I LOVE your music. It’s exactly the kind of stuff I like to try to create when playing synths. I own a Matriarch right now and I’m planning on buying the Moog One, but I’ve been very nervous, since I’ve only been able to play one once, and have had to rely on what I see other people uploading on KZbin for examples of what it can do. I must admit, so much of what is out there has been really discouraging and has made me second guess buying it, but now I’m sure it’s just that people don’t know how to get great sounds out of it. Anyway-you’ve helped me finalize my decision to buy one. So, thank you. Also, thank you just for some great music to enjoy. Cheers.
@boelegerkes9 ай бұрын
Blsuh… :) Thank you for your kind words. The One is a beast and you can do so many different sounds with it: from excellent recreations of usable, playable poly analog keyboard sounds to the weirdest, almost modular, stuff. The Matriarch is an excellent companion by the way: I can know, cause I have one myself :-D, with that typical vintage Moog sound. The One is a bit cleaner overall, but modulation wise it is almost endless. And the One has one of the finest keyboards in the history of synthesizers (only the Waldorf Wave comes to mind in that regard).
@DerMensch19 ай бұрын
@@boelegerkes thanks for your reply. And yes, I’ve seen at least one of your other videos where you paired the One and Matriarch together-and I loved that one, too. That’s what I meant that your videos helped me finally settle on buying the One. I read some of these other comments on here and was interested to read your comment that you feel that the digital effects actually detract from the sound. That’s very interesting. I was in one way surprised to hear that, but then…I think I’ve felt that when I’ve watched some demos, but I just wasn’t sure. It’s so hard to tell from other people’s vantage point. I just know that when I watch their videos, I’m always thinking: “Man. Why would they choose to highlight that awful sound?” I sure miss the days when I could drive to a store that carried only keyboards and just try them out for myself. But, that’s why I’m glad I found your stuff. It’s fantastic. I’ve started looking into your music elsewhere online, too. Anyway-thanks again, and thanks for being cool and actually responding, too.

Really cool sound. Thanks for uploading these videos. I’m considering buying one soon, but I always start to doubt whether I should because I can’t actually go play one anywhere and all there is to go by are KZbin demos. And of course, not everybody who uploads a video will share the same taste. Yours have been very encouraging for me. These sounds are great. Thank you again.

Sorry, but the M can’t handle polyphonic aftertouch. Channel pressure and polyphonic aftertouch are different MIDI event types. The M receives both event types as well as the Blofeld for example. BUT. Both can‘t resolve the polyphony and process both events as channel pressure. What you hear in this video is channel pressure, not PA, since the M can’t process PA as PA. You can check this e.g. with max. amount on cutoff.
@boelegerkes Жыл бұрын
not sure what you're trying to explain but the M definitely processes PA and that is what you are hearing. In my book channel aftertouch is monophonic aftertouch on a single midi channel i.e. the pressure value of whatever key pressed last is the value that becomes the same source for modulation for every voice. wirth PA each voice produces/listens to it's own voice number aftertouch value which is what the M does perfectly.

Can you distinguish one ring modulator from another? Serious question, because this module costs three times as much and occupies three times as much space as some others. I'm curious if it's just the Serge name that distinguishes it.
@boelegerkes2 жыл бұрын
Good question! Short version: yes there can definitely be small and big differences between ring modulators, both in sound and in features. The Serge is particular good because it uses quality components and circuits, can wave fold signals when the input attenuators rise above 50% and it has cv control. Here is a great article explaining various aspects, and with a lot of examples of patching and brands. www.perfectcircuit.com/signal/ring-modulators?clickId=4160039737 Of course estetics played a role in my purchase as well: As you can see I am slowly building a Serge “row”. I like the simpe and broad setup of the modules, plus the uniqueness of the sounds they produce. :)
@boelegerkes2 жыл бұрын
All that said: I have no good comparison between prices and sound/possibilities. I listened to as many demos I could and decided this one is worth the money.
@boelegerkes2 жыл бұрын
PS the lowest knob (0 - AM - Ring) is the cherry on the cake on this module: it’s the level of the effect you can set there (and modulate) which gives you a ton of flavors. In the demo I modulate it with a Sample & Hold CV signal
@ObKling2 жыл бұрын
@@boelegerkes Yeah, I understand the aesthetic appeal. I can't say that doesn't factor into my own considerations. But I have a Befaco a*b+c, which serves as a mixer, vca, offset / attenuator, AND ring modulator and only takes up 6hp. I find it pretty indispensable, and if the ring modulation it offers is basically the same thing as any other ring modulator offers - aside from very fine distinctions, maybe I can control my Serge lust a bit.
@boelegerkes2 жыл бұрын
@@ObKling yes that is a totally understandable reasoning. From your point of view I think you are making the right conclusion. I just recently discovered the Serge eurorack modules and I really like the flavors and looks. And space is not really a problem for me.

It's a very unique pedal. The combination of panning and phaser works really well, and there is this "analog grain" in the phaser that I *love*. I recently also bought this company's MTHRFCKR = RPTR pedal which combines a digital delay with an analog pre-amp. This guy knows his stuff and puts together inspirational FXs into stompboxes.
