I wonder what the heating source is other than fireplaces if any? The Home probably predates the hot water under the floor systems.

When I was a child, we lived in an awesome two story Craftsman with a wrap around porch and two-story garage (alleged to have once been a carriage house, upper floor for hay storage). About half the homes on the street were built late 1800's to early 1900's, and they were all majestic. We were there from 1954-1963, and when my parents sold it, they put up new wallpaper in some rooms, thinking it would be bought by someone who valued the house. It was bought by people who just wanted the land, and they tore down the beautiful house and garage to build apartments. The whole neighborhood is now apartments. No vintage homes left.

What is wrong with people.... you can't replicate these houses without spending a ridiculous amount of money. I was floored when I found out the amount of money it would cost to rebuild my craftsman from insurance when we bought it. These craftsman are beautiful art

Thanks for the comment. It was acquired by a developer (I didn't do the sale). Have not been by since the video but have a feeling it is doomed. Google Street View shows no change yet. I do not see a record of any new building permits being filed yet. The is the address: 4525 W 17th St, Los Angeles, CA 90019

@@phyllisanngodfrey6137 I can see how that may be an opinion but it’s actually all relative. Housing prices in SoCal have always been some of the highest in the nation. Our ideal weather and income potentials are factors behind that. 1,000’s of homes sell every year and grow in value every year. But I agree, it would be amazing if they were less.

@@BungalowAgent Ideal weather….earthquakes, forest fires, routine droughts, extreme heat, power grid failures, horrific traffic……Bungalow Agent, are you trying to sell me a house in SoCal? Check out the skit on Saturday Night Live called ‘The Californians’. That will tell you what the rest of the country thinks of SoCal…….and I didn’t even mention Harry and Meghan and the mass exodus from the state under Gavin. I wouldn’t even have posted this comment, if you hadn’t referred to the the ‘ideal weather’ 😜. I’m glad you love where you live and sell multi-million dollar bungalows in Tony neighborhoods……that would sell for $400k in central PA. PS my husband earns a six figure salary as an electrical engineer for HERSHEY Foods and I earn $70K as a customer service manager. We also have great medical care and over all quality of life.

I understand painting original woodwork in California. Coziness is not what Californians want. But a million plus? Yeah. One more reason NOT to live in California. Wonderful to visit: I do so every couple of years, but thank heavens I escaped it 50 years ago when it was still a good place to live.

Bartlett vs Luma - Which is better overall location/experience/food/etc.?
@mikerobleto2 жыл бұрын
Hi Morris. Completely different vibes. Bartlett is a PreWar building (qualifies for Mills Act $$) that is on 7th in the Historic Core. Close to many popular bars and faster-ish food. Can be a bit raucous at night. Luma is a newer building (LEED certified) in South Park. Walking to Staples, a little quieter at night (for DTLA standards). Several great dining options and more coming. Price per square foot and monthly HOAs will vary with Luma generally being higher. Your best bet is to book a tour with me.
