Grandma bought one of these in probably 1987, I think she worked at Sears then. She found me the owner's manual cleaning out some things years ago.

That’s a good canister size vacuum cleaner by Hoover wondering the year it was from
@Woofy-tm8si2 ай бұрын
Vacuums are all about airflow. Suction power is secondary above 80 psi, which Filter Queens test consistently at 92. Airflow and the quality of sealing to prevent leakage are the two most important performance metrics that have a direct impact on carpet and surface cleaning quality as well as air quality important to this asthmatic. Filter Queen Majestic, Lindhaus HF-6, Nilfisk all have the high as irflow needed to avoid dust from the powerhead kicking up dust while vacuuming carpeting, degrading air quality (and making my nose run like crazy). BTW: The current powerhead has vastly improved edge cleaning capability.

i used to have one of those, it was an interesting vacuum, I gave it to somebody because I didn’t want it I used it for like two or three years before I gave it away, and when I got it the powerhead sounded all weird and we couldn’t get belts at Walmart anymore because Walmart had stopped selling them so I said let’s Bring the power head to the dump

Which particular PowerMax canister is in this video?
@Termite1592 ай бұрын
It's a mix match of some of mine. Suction unit is Turbo Power 5000 S3612. The power head is actually my former deep wine burgundy PowerMax Deluxe S3607 but the hood got replaced with a black one that was gifted to me. The black cover on it would either be from a PowerMax S3609 or a central vac kit. The second power head, shown in navy blue is from my PowerMax S3603-040.

The plug with the 2 inclined pins is the plug of Electrolux Sweden for the power nozzle since the 60‘s
@briant53782 ай бұрын
The canister was actually made in Europe by the Swedish Volta division of the Electrolux company. The suction-only Volta version was called the Elyps. You can Google Volta Elyps and you will see all the different colours it came in. There is a parking slot on the side for the European wand that has remained on this North American version. Amazing how this vacuum is really connected to 4 different brand names of household appliance: Volta, Electrolux, Eureka and General Electric!

Todsy you can get a new filterqueen from a vacuum syore that sells them or is a dealer for $1500. Go directly through the filterqueen company and purchase a filterqueen for $1000. Depending the type of bearings on the brush roll for the power nozzle, you can repack the bearings or you can oil them. You can also replace the brush roll bearings very responsible.
@Termite1592 ай бұрын
The original old style brush rolls had sleeve bearings, you can put a little bit of oil on those but really they don't need any if in good shape and clean. The old style FilterQueens were good as they had dual stage motors and the heavier power nozzle with a height adjuster and headlight. The current market FilterQueens are single stage, faster running motors to burn out quicker. The power head is very light weight and has no headlight.

I’m sorry but the oem hoover brushrolls in these vacs suck. It makes the terrible noisy and full of vibration and rattles not cause by the beater bars. The CWP rollers make these things run so silky smooth and sweep and groom the carpets very very well.

I have very different experience. The CWPs make the motors sound like they're struggling and I despise the sound. Loved the way a properly greased and working original OEM sounds and beats.

Yeah I'm not a fan of them at all! My ears can't stand the noise tone they make for attachment mode. In general I'm not happy with the carpet grooming for any series of them. None are fun to use either. I've re-vacuumed rooms in my cleaning career with Hoovers but I didn't like the results of Kirbys and those were G4s with clean housing, new bag, new belt, brush roll properly adjusted for wear and height adjuster properly set with how they explain it in the videos.

I like that Dirt Alert, those are stupidly rare in the Bravo lineup. The sound of it is really bewildering to me too (my assumption for that is probably from a recently replaced fan), I expected it to be just as loud as the Boss Plus.

Nice! I love Bravos, and as you saw on the Facebook group I am now getting my very childhood model, the Boss Special Edition Widetrack which I am very excited about. Very interesting with that World Vac, because the Boss SE I had growing up and am getting ready to get is your typical 12 amp Bravo screamer. I wonder if they used different sound insulation or something on that one.

@philsalvatore3902 Жыл бұрын
I have the exact same model and use it regularly. You can trim the mounting card of an Electrolux OX bag to fit these vacuums. Buy the premium anti allergy HEPA version with green microfiber material. Tear the mounting card off of the Panasonic bag, center it over the hole in the OX bag and draw the outline of the Panasonic mounting card on the OX bag mounting card. Trim it to fit and you are there, a really good HEPA dust bag for your trusty old Panasonic.

I have one but how to you remove the roller brush to replace the belt?
@Termite1592 ай бұрын
Belt replacement on these is a cinch. You loosen two clips on base that hold the base plate in. Pull the brush roll out, slide on new belt, re-install brush roll and follow the diagram for which way belt should go on the shaft.

Great job cleaning with the Hoover Celebrity, Rob! I just found the EXACT SAME powerhead here in Canada a couple years ago - identical except for the carpet/floor lever like your American version. It didn't have the on/off switch, though, so I put a Filter Queen metal pushbutton switch in. It's getting used in a future project :).
