The best way to quiet a noisy generator is to buy a 3- kilometer extension cord. Or just switch it off.

Until the wind blows the other way and it sets off the CO monitor and you have to let it sit for 10-15 before it will restart.

You can dig a hole just as deep as the top of the genny and stick it in it then cover with a sheet of plywood and it’s takes virtually all the sound away. Goes from 78db to 28-36db pending many factors. Also a well built fire pit made with concrete is another good solution. Simply put the genny in it if it’ll fit.

The best way to quiet a generator is to turn it off. This holds true for air compressors also. *this video is an advert and a complete waste of my time. SO, buy 2" thick hard foam board from a building supply store, some GOOD duct tape, and VOILA! Done. You just saved money from buyung this product!

@RonWong dig a hole about two feet. Run your hose cover with a board loosely with room for exhaust to escape.

That could also be a really good noise suppressing enclosure for if you have the generator as a backup generator for your home that’s inside a well ventilated room like your garage! It would of course have its own exhaust pipe that goes straight outside through a wall and maybe have an air intake vent on the wall! :)

Here in hurricane alley, if you are running a generator, so are all of your neighbors. I do just jump start mine. All the neighbors that have these with a small battery end up jumping theirs as well. The battery is usually dead anywas from sitting around for years with zero maintenance

I suspect that might cause problems with the CO safety sensors on some generators. People report issues with wind blowing in the wrong direction, here you are trapping it in a shielded area.

My beef with this is I've experienced first hand a lot of issues with generators in boxes of a variety of of designs. The heat reflects back and swells the gas tank and you can have ruptures an fires almost every time.

Most generators needs around 3 to 5 feet of clearance around it as per manufacturer… this will lead to premature generator failure due to over heating
