Dear Catholic Bishops, Who pays for all of this? We Americans simply cannot afford to educate, medicate, house, clothe, and feed millions of illegal aliens. It's not just the wealthy who are concerned about this. How many millions of legal American citizens are about to lose some of their medical care because illegal aliens are misusing virtually all emergency rooms in American hospitals? "Just and equal immigration reform" is code for the Democrat-Socialist Party making lawful U.S. taxpayers paying for illegal aliens. What if the U.S. Catholic Church were to lose all the money they receive because it is being diverted away from the Catholic Church to instead pay for illegal aliens? Would the Catholic Bishops then think it was such a great idea to support illegal aliens? I contend that most of the illegal aliens ARE leaving their own land to improve their standard of living. And that gain, in a society with fixed resources, is part of a zero-sum game. So, what you dedicate to paying for illegal aliens is unavailable to pay for other things, like paying tithes to the Catholic Church. When my family moved to Omaha NE when I was a child, we received a letter from the Catholic Diocese of Omaha. That letter demanded that we provide tax records for my family for the last three years so the Diocese would know how much to charge us to provide in tithing donations to the Catholic Church. Needless to say, we didn't provide those income figures to the Diocese of Omaha, and we never again went to Catholic Church again. What in the hell do these people expect?

I'm listening to this while trying to get my border collie Bertha in any kind of presentable shape to go to the groomer today. She's covered with cypress needles from the yard. They're barbed, you know, and cling to the coat. So that's what I'm doing, here in Texas at six thirty in the morning after praying Matins and Lauds (the Divine Office version with the hell fire baked right in, not the expurgated Liturgy of the Hours which I used to pray after returning to the Church). So I picked up that tip listening so far, to the twelfth minute, talk about what you're doing. Also want to say I taught middle school and high school for thirty years in the city public school systems of Oakland, Tampa, and Pittsburgh. Just so you know how seriously I have PTSD. And my kids did well on the national tests--really well, because I made them learn how to punctuate dialogue where they could legitimately incorporate black English into their essays, and of course their scores went sky high. They--the state board of ed--came to investigate me once, but of course that was dumb since Pittsburgh had for a brief moment good, essay-based national exams and you can't cheat on an essay exam. (Yes, I worked 80 hour weeks for years and years.) But here's what I came to say. It's about the day Catholics become illegal. I wrote it, a completely unpromotable sci fi novel in which Catholics on Earth's first space colony unite with the Muslim population there after the World Government imposes a mandatory made-up religion, they unite with Muslims, get a ship, and make a run for it. It's unpromotable among Catholics because it celebrates tradition, traditional mass (in the hold!), among traditional Catholics because Muslims aren't portrayed as monsters and also because the women wear pants (you may know what I mean, it's a big deal among traditionalists, and the women being in space makes no difference to them in spite of the physics of skirts in low gravity), and of course unpromotable among the typical sci fi reading community because God. So I thought perhaps you might permit me to promote it a little here. I self-published it six or seven years ago and haven't done a thing to promote it since and I have five hundred copies under the bed, but just this last week, prompted by a successful Catholic writer, had the nerve to try to get it on Kindle, and they let me! They probably didn't notice the cover photo is the World President, Barack Obama, in drag. Anyway they let me. It's free to read--I have a pretty good teacher's retirement--and I would so appreciate it if one of you great guys might have a second to go on Kindle Unlimited or whatever it's called and search for 'Run Janet Baker' and you'll find it. Listen: it's a pretty good adventure! I defended Patrick on X recently, without knowing him or his background at all, just defended against a bogus slam, that he posts click-bait, which I did not find on his timeline, and said so. And then followed him, and got to this podcast from a post. He's doing great work for God there. Peace to you all.

I’ve tried to remind people of the size difference. Not that size matters when it comes to truth. But it does put things in context. The side by side comparisons become less persuasive when you recognize it’s not apples to apples. This is especially the case when it comes to the topic of liturgy /aesthetics / orthopraxis. You start to view the entirety of EO as yet another hipster-trad bubble of religious exoticism outside of mainstream Catholic Christianity instead of a true mainstream rival to Catholic Christianity - which it likes to present as (ie the “other half” of western Christianity). Hint: most of global Christianity is “western Christianity” and specifically “Latin Catholic Christianity”. It’s no surprise the Latin Church attempted reforms and it’s even less a surprise that we have completely fumbled it so far.
