Spread Eagle is a band that started in Boston, moved to NYC in late 80s. Used to hang with them in a place called RAT ALLEY, then went to visit them at their place in Alphabet City (NYC) around 90 or so. Tommy Gallo, the original drummer, one night decided it would be great show to "head butt" his cymbal.... but ended up splitting his forehead wide open, blood everywhere.... THAT was rock-n-roll!!!

I used to see them on Heavy Metal Wednesdays at "Celebrations" Club in Boston in the 80s ...They had a light up microphone stand that was pretty cool

I knew Frank the bass player through a friend, we traveled to NYC, where they played in a bar in their early years(pre-album years) I also think the video was made way before 2009, might even be the 1st video they released through MTV. They all were definately great, awsome guys in music and heart back then. Rock-On!!

Buildings look great like this, the city is a crime ridden dump. Go into the neighborhoods, everything is dilapidated. My city, gone.

I remember these guys from the Boston scene. This song reeks of So This is Love by VH. I thought of this guitar player today wondering how he is handling the loss of EVH....Christ his gf in 85 was a Valerie Bertinelli doppelganger....I know I'm devastated but this guy made no bones about imitating Eddie. Drummer tried like hell to look like Tommy Lee and the bass player looked like Jeff Pilson. Great live band. Better songs than Extreme imho which nobody, rightfully, gives a fuck about.

I've loved this song for a long time...and I always wished that they could have filmed the video on a gorgeous summer day instead of a rainy one. 💥

Awesome song...wonder if the band released any demos...would like to hear more!!!

They had a three song demo out with Summertime, Suite 16, and Fire It Up. There was also a live broadcast on WERS (Emerson college radio I believe) that included the 3 above mentioned tunes, plus Overdrive, Oh Juanita, Hot To The Touch, Over the Line, Heart Attack, Party Won't Wait and maybe a couple more. One of THE BEST bands out of Boston EVER. Saw them as many times as I could, met them a few times, ALWAYS super nice. They captured that 80's era Van Halen vibe better than most, good time hard rock that never devolved into a "metal" sludge fest, super high energy and upbeat. PACKED the clubs like Extreme. Hordes of hot girls, ah the 80's... later they morphed into Spread Eagle (without Mike) and put out two awesome CDs, self titled Spread Eagle and Open to the Public, WAY heavier sonics and lyrics, these two albums are sleeze metal at it's best. DiBartolo rips through the well crafted tunes like a maniac, SHOULD be recognized as at least Nuno's equal...

LOVE this song then, now and forever. Every time the weather starts to change, the rhythm of this song starts running through my head. I met somebody from the band-he was dating a blonde girl (Brenda?) that lived with Nancy on Cypress St in Brookline, She had 2 cats and named them Little and Big, lol. We dressed a little differently then, kept different hours, haha.

i remember hearing the song on the radio and loving it. i heard it on WAAF a kick ass radio station. the song summertime has been in my head on and off for 30 years. it did remind me of a summer song like a van halen feeling to it. have fun and party.

@Woodsiderd0 Thanx. I don't know if the lead singer (Michael McGovern) left the band or the other guys left him. But when they went on to form Spread Eagle I didn't care for their material as much. They became much heavier and grittier than Bang. Perhaps you know what happened with that?

I saw these guys open up for Extreme back in the mid 80's in Providence. They put on a hell of a show and gave Extreme a run for their money. Paul Dibartolo was a great guitarist and was right up there with Nuno! He did the tapping and hammer on pulls offs like no one I've ever seen. The drummer Tommy Gallo and bassist Rob were very entertaining as well. They were a cross between Motley Crue and Van Halen. They definitely had the at least the same showmanship skills and even more!!
