Wow I never heard of Joe. I looked more into him and see he was playing with Jeff Berlin. Great Stuff!

The other guitar player, on the black Tele, is Jim M. Rolph, legendary pickup winder. He just directed me to this video on a phone call I had with him to order some pickups.

I just updated my description to include his name. I am curious about Jim's pickups. He is now on my radar. Thanks!

Have you explored www.tedgreene.com? A transcription is found there, same song, but from a different recording titled "An Afternoon With TG". Also, several chord grid sheets on this song. Check it out!

Thanks for this upload. What a wonderful teacher and performer. I have to agree with you, however, that the lag between the top note (melody) and the bass is a bit exaggerated for my ear. But I like how he suggests vibrato on the last note, even though it may be so quiet is not heard, "but it looks good". :)
@paulgibby69322 ай бұрын
Thanks for this great instructional video. Mr. Heitmeyer is a wonderful teacher, clearly, and a great performer also. I like his point about adding vibrato on the last note, and that he says you may not be able to hear it "but it looks good" :). Also totally agree about the accentuated drag of the high melody note -- it is a bit too long of a lag for my ear. Great performance though, and that guitar sounds so great. Was it amplified? It sounds like it was. Thanks again, Nick!

Yes, he was amplified. That's an Takamine Electro-Acoustic EP-90 which Howard used for this recording. I don't remember what the amp was.

"Circa" is a Latin word that means "around" or "approximately". It's often used as a preposition before a date to indicate that the exact time or date is unknown. For example, "He was born circa 1600".

"Tears in Heaven" is not one I have seen. I do plan on posting three teaching videos on public domain songs with downloadable sheet music soon. Stay tuned!

So nice to see Howard's graceful fingers glide over the fingerboard once again. HH always finds the best keys to suite the sonority of the solo guitar. Here in the key of A with a low D 6th string tuning... it the perfect key to balance out the highs and lows.

Used to go see Joe at his open room ,most times I’d be there with just Joe (he obviously had a huge patience ) I was at a real crossroads with studying scales etc etc ;I was just fed up he told me a story about his meeting with Wes Montgomery “he was crying because he hated that that music had so many symbols “ well after 53 years of playing and 47 years of playing professionally I now know what Joe taught me : And I’m still learning from him,,RIP Joe …what a great bloke and unbelievably great musician
