I wish I had the singularity of focus to develop this understanding and the skill to accompany it. Maybe in 20 years if I get to retire.

It's better when he plays a proper archtop. Why would he use a Tele when he could have such a beautiful jazz guitar?

I love this guy he’s not a goat meaning the greatest of all times he wouldn’t like he was one of the most important students of music and guitar in our life time he was so talented and humble and he had a great sense of humor truly funny

Great video! I'm sure that many of you know that the original name of the song is NOT "Sukiyaki". The actual name is "Ue o Muite Arukō" . The recording by Japanese crooner Kyu Sakamoto was a big hit in America in 1963. Love the parallel 4ths Ted adds to the melody; funny how Nick thought it was something out a movie Western.

“Your fourth finger super resists this, what were trying to do. Just talk to it. She’ll do it.” 12:05 I know the feeling the student is experiencing. Keep at it. It will come together. They say it takes 10,000 hours to master something. Another pro said in response to that comment, “It takes 50,000 hours “. That is 25 years as a pro playing 2,000 hours a year.

@4:32 "Take one short progression that you love - refuse to give up until you create music on it. If you fail 99 on times, but the 100th time you succeed then it's still work well done if you're practicing efficiently." That's it right there.

This was a lesson. And........a lesson that we are all sitting in on. I've been playing 52 years and a teacher myself and love hearing a Master at work with patience and care, not riffing his head off and saying, "Now get out of here and just do what I just did." I loved the fact that the "student" was not advanced. We are always learning. Good luck on your journey. 👍

The student said he studied the Ted's books. There's no way in hell he studied anything. That's why so many guitarists are not where they want to be. Not because it's so hard and complicated. They just don't want to work hard.

Have you explored www.tedgreene.com? A transcription is found there, same song, but from a different recording titled "An Afternoon With TG". Also, several chord grid sheets on this song. Check it out!
