I basically don't know anything about this sport, so consider this an outside observers opinion: Any tricks where they land dead and then have to pump themselves back onto the foil look pretty lame and should be scored way lower that smooth trick executions such as the one from Macdonald at 8:20 - there is just so much more style and flow to that
@rodgerrodger13672 ай бұрын
They get judged on all aspects on the trick. From the moment they effectively begin their manoeuvre to when they are very clearly on a stable foil path they will be analysed. McDonald is a league ahead of these guys, it's why he can do these insane tricks and land them much cleaner than the rest. The problem with all these guys is consistency which i'd say they're all pretty unreliable. But for total ability, he clears

Since it looks as if two racers previously rounded the buoy without crashing, my guess is that the two racers who crashed did so because they rounded the mark more closely and, as a result, snagged their foils on the line between the mark and it's anchor -- which could have been avoided had the race organizers used lead core line that sinks straight down.

What would be a typical mast size for slalom and what mast size for surf/freestyle?
@WingfoilWorldTour2 ай бұрын
Hey, there are so many variants depending on the location and the conditions but a typical size for freestyle could be 85cm and for racing 95cm to 110cm.

Don't understand ! It's supposed to be a big air contest, not a freestyle contest ! Why Chris take the lead ? Malo was pretty much higher than him ! Okay that's a technical trick but it's more interesting for us to watch guys who try to go hiiiiigher! For spectacular tricks we already have the Surf Freestyle discipline

Double backflip is crazy ofc... But why is it called big air then? Because it wasn't that high as the gong guys!
@PorterMan-s3z2 ай бұрын
interesting point . I think Chris wanted to switch it up. Over 50 front flips were done in the semi finals . I think that’s a bit boring to watch . Still a great competition. Every other athlete only threw frontflip. There definitely big but maybe then it should be called big air frontflip competition.
