Great tying session! Thx! Question, how high in the water column does a beast swim?

Realize this is an older video, but what would you guys use for thread? I've been using GSP, either 100 or 150. Also, I've tied a few of these with the 1st 3 tied normally, not reverse. Am there a difference in movement or durability? And 3rd ? I've managed to tie 2 of these beast flies that walk-the-dog on their own. Love that action! But I have not been able to replicate it and have no idea what I did differently ! Any ideas would be appreciated!

Really good! Nice fly. One question: can the fish find small hook in this giant fly!?

Beautiful tie and very unique. Tungsten is expensive as mentioned, why not simply epoxy a small coin or flat piece of lead underneath? A penny saved…

great video, and a fantastic fly =) I live in Norway and I am gonna try to catch a Hallibut on a fly rod. I think a version of your fly "the Beast" will do great. Do you think a 1,8 mm plastic tube will do the same job as the mono you are using ?
@sigurdurmarolafsson41832 жыл бұрын
Just wandering.... could you use á small/light plastic tube ( as in tubeflies) for the extension??

You just captured another Popovich. Nice job! I'm in California. I can see this used for Striper, Steelhead, Big Trout and even Bass. Absolutely great! I'm in NoCal and have access to BuckTail through the season. Thanks.

With my hopes to duplicate the CD3 Countdown I’ve been checking out videos. So far this is amongst the best I’ve seen. On your next video I recommend talking to us as you tie. so you can explain to us why you’re doing the subtle changes and manipulation of the materials and nuances that allow the flies to come out so perfectly. Well done sir, this is wonderful and I truly appreciate you showing us. It is nice to get that first hand pro tip knowledge. 😎👍🔥

Posted on 2010, I’d like to have em back . Great flys you guys were coming up with then, started some thing. I ended up with Bob showing me his 2 vice technique for tying shrimp, it was the only reason I went to the Somerset show that year. I didn’t know at that time he was a Marine. Well that cinched it. We got into duty stations , etc. etc. when I looked around everyone had drifted away. Two Marines talkin chit ,too much for them.

Great Fly... I’m from the UK and Plastidip is not a product I am familiar with for fly tying but looking on their UK website there is a range of products. Which one did you use? Thanks Andrew

I guess you can store these big flies in something like a plastic shoe box, but how do you carry them if your walking the beach or jetti? Only asking because I am not a boat owner. Nice vid, great fly design!
